Our local temp hit around 97 or 98F today. With more of the same next few days followed by triple digits Wed - Fri next. Summertime heat. not unusual but not comfortable either,

Meanwhile, here in Vancouver in 'Junuary' we are overjoyed to be hitting 20/68 today.

We have developed an unfortunate pattern here which is about to occur for the 5th week in a row-- decent weather Monday to Friday, and rain on the weekend.

Not weather, but...

Very strong earthquake (7.7 magnitude) hits southern Mexico. Tsunami warnings issued. Quake felt over a wide area. No word yet on any casualties or damages.

Another dust effect I never knew about. They may be suffering in the heat but the dust might have suppressed a hurricane, maybe even the one that would have rendered Miami Beach uninhabitable, a fair trade I would say.
