Hi Beachlover,

Exactomundo!

We should increase our immigration levels based on merit and financial independence capabilities.

We have enough citizens that stay in the poverty lifestyle for generation after generation.

We need to add to our population only if they can be productive citizens and show a desire to assimilate our traditions and heritage.

I'll not touch religion as that is surely a personal and individual belief.

Bob

I agree with you but there is a big draw to return home. I dated a much younger gal, from mainland China that I met when she was an intern at HP between getting two Master's degrees. We stayed friends for some time, but she couldn't sit still and I liked living in one place, the age difference, etc... She helped me come up with the idea to buy FDX in 1997 as an "internet play" while she was working for Lucent outside Chicago. Long story short, she eventually returned to Mainland China, I think with a wealthy Chinese guy she met in Atlanta, had a kid, got divorced and wanted to get back with her childhood sweetheart whose marriage wasn't doing well...

Anyway, she was brilliant and could have worked anywhere here but elected to return. I believe the "smart kids" in their 20s and 30s there were enticed with real estate that they would flip and flip... and get rich. As you know, corruption is not a problem if you are the beneficiary of it... just ask Hunter...

So, it can be hard to compete.

It is definitely the best soap opera since Mark Hurd was forced to leave HP for having an affair while married and fudging the expense account to hide the relationship. If you recall, Larry Ellison said, "hold my beer, I date and sometimes marry employees, so you are welcome here" and Hurd was hired to be co-CEO of Oracle.

Good Morning Kirk,

Heck look at me. I moved to Houston in 1981. Bought a dream home on lake Woodlands in 1995, amd what am I doing? Returning to where I grew up and have to rebuild an older home where I grew up in the middle of nowhere. That being said I did get another nice buck on my very own property, which is beautifully located along the Sheboygan River.

I guess Dorothy had it correct when she told TOTO "There's no place like home".

We are what we were when, to a very large degree.

Not sure on this, but a very happy youth always is looked back upon as the good ole days. At least I have done so.

I am sure I had very loving and nurturing parents who insured my youth was trouble free, other than I was to achieve great grades and was encouraged to participate in sports and learn about mother nature through hunting and fishing. I had a most enjoyable youth and have returned to enjoy my later years with old friends and familiar surroundings.

In between I chased my love of cars and it provided a financial security such that retirement is unencumbered, and yet I live well below my means.

By far the single most important attribute was two loving parents. I suspect that is huge even in a dictatorial world that China presents.

Bob
