To: richardred who wrote (109) | 1/11/2006 10:53:50 AM | From: CapitalistHogg™ | | | MATK is very interesting to me but I have four questions; 1)Specifically what contract with K is in the works. 2)What is the monetary value of this potential contract. 3)If known what is the approximate timeframe for the deal to go through. 4)If the deal does not go through what immediate impact will this have on their market cap. In other words are they basically a one trick pony? (FWIW I love one trick ponies)
Assuming this contract is the "main event" that the street is looking for I would have some suggestions on how to play this with options. This company briefly flirted with another event based indicator of mine late last year which is why I am so highly interested in your stock story. |

RE:K 2nd qtr CC
B. Teets: Good morning. Thank you for taking my question. I was wondering if you could give us a little more clarification on the previously announced plan to in the future add Martek Bioscience DHA to some of your food products. When / how that’s progressing and what your plans are in that area for health and maybe getting additional added market share.
D. Mackay: Bradley, we are still in the exploratory phase of that so we really have nothing to talk to in the general market. When and if we do, I’m sure we’ll discuss it on a conference call.
2. No monetary value given. However the market has potential to be bigger than formula.
3."While subject to final product selection, food formulation, and consumer testing, the food company intends for the initial product launch to take place in mid-2006," Martek said in announcing the deal. usatoday.com
4. IMHO- I believe it's not if ,but when. If something does fall apart.
Per announcement! > However, there is no guarantee that the agreement will result in a Kellogg line of DHA-fortified products.
MARK is basically a one product company looking to expand DHA into foods.
I think an even strike straddle is too expensive for a volatile move.
I'd be interested in your suggestions on playing it. |

But on the other hand, the short squeeze may be the reason that makes its P/E so high<g>, Sort of like HANS went to nearly $105 |
