Globe says Pure Gold slogs it out at Ontario's Red Lake

Pure Gold Mining Inc (C:PGM)
Shares Issued 412,960,956
Last Close 9/22/2021 $0.95
Thursday September 23 2021 - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that Pure Gold is struggling to produce gold at a profit, the latest junior to encounter technical problems in Ontario's notoriously tricky-to-mine Red Lake region. The Globe's Niall McGee writes that the Vancouver-based gold miner, which is backed by industry heavyweights such as Eric Sprott and Robert McEwen, has experienced a slew of issues underground since starting up its Madsen mine in Red Lake, northwest of Thunder Bay. The company poured its first gold in December of last year but initial production and ore grade at the mine have been dramatically lower than expected. In the first quarter, Pure Gold produced about 4,000 ounces, compared with the 13,700 ounces the company's feasibility study had predicted. The company has since been forced to build more stopes -- discrete areas excavated within a mine -- to try to access higher-grade ore, which has driven up its expenditures. Its costs to mine an ounce of gold are running at about$1,700 (U.S.), more than double what was predicted and not far off the metal's current trading price near $1,800. On Sept. 8, the company announced a $20-million bought deal of units at $1.05, diluting existing shareholders.

Today INK, which tracks insider buying on Canadian exchanges, featured i-80 Gold aka IAU. CEO Evan Downie has recently made a number of buys on the open market totaling 50k shares, moving his holdings well over 4M. They also comment that IAU has high insider ownership compared to its peers.

Centamin aka CEE put out a rather strange PR this morning with the headline "Centamin PLC Announces Geology At The Core Of Our Business". Uhm yeah, I kinda already knew that...

It turns out this PR has two purposes. The first is to announce a two hour long 'virtual capital markets webcast' including Q&A, which due to the time difference has already happened, but I assume it will be made available on their website. The second is to announce the doubling of mineral resources at their ABC project in Cote d'Ivoire to 2.6M oz.

Reading through the PR again, it is clear the new management is trying to change the perception of CEE. For a number of years, it has been all about how well production was going at their Sukari gold mine in Egypt. A series of poor years led to a change in management a few years ago, and it seems Sukari is back on track, but the management wants to position the company as more of a growth company,. Besides ramping up exploration around Sukari and their other Egyptian properties, they also are working to complete a PFBS on their Doropo gold project in Cote d'Ivoire. If the effort to change the perception of Centamin is successful, it should lead to a re-rating, which added to Sukari getting back on track should be enough to regain what the share price has lost. Mind you, the downslide took a few years, and regaining it will take at least as long.

Goliath Resources aka GOT announced they have completed the current drill campaign on the Surebet zone of their Golddigger property in the Golden Traingle. I thought it was positive news, in that they were able to extend Surebet to over a kilometre in strike length, but so far the market does not agree. Maybe when the labs finally get the assays out the share price will get a bump, though after that GOT will go into a fallow period as they await the arrival of spring allowing exploration to resume.

Today, the PoG is once again testing support around $1750. If it holds, it should eventually head back over $1800; if not $1675 is in the sights.

Teuton Resources aka TUO provided an update on the completeded drill campaign on the Konkin Silver property in BC's Golden Triangle, JVed out to Silver Grail Resources aka SVG and located just south of the TUO/DEC JV on Del Norte. Given that Konkin displays the same stratigraphic horizon as Eskay Creek, the focus of exploration has shifted towards looking for Eskay-style VMS-hosted precious metals. As we have become used to these days, all assays are still pending, but examination of the drill core reveals plenty of pyrites, mudstone, and other favourable minerals.

They gave no indication of when they will will receive and release the assays.

Alianza Minerals aka ANZ released assays from two more holes in its exploration campaign on their Haldane Ag/Pb/Zn/Au prospect in the Keno Hill silver district in the Yukon. These holes were designed to investigate the West Fault Complex set of veins discovered last year. The results extend the structure 50m to the northwest, but they now believe mineralization will be stronger in the opposite direction, to the southeast, which is where the next round of exploration will concentrate. They are also working on defining high grade shoots.

I mentioned yesterday that the new management at Centamin aka CEE is trying to change their image to be more growth-oriented, and it seems to have worked, at least for part of the audience at their webinar. FWIW, BMO has raised their rating to Outperform while maintaining a target price of $2.43. They cite the way that new management has stabilized operations at the producing Sukari gold mine in Egypt, as well as their sector-leading dividend, strong balance sheet, and growth prospects.

Teuton Resorces aka TUO released the latest's drilling results from the Treaty Creek JV in B.C Golden Triangle. This PR covered four more drill holes, and as we have become accustomed to, every hole hit long lengths of mineralization. The holes into the main Goldstorm deposit, still open in every direction and at depth, not only extended the deposit but also conformed the existence of higher grade zones within the deposit. One of the holes had to be abandoned due to problems with the ice drilling pad, but not before ending in strong mineralization across 1290 metres! Another hole at the Eureka target encountered strong near surface mineralization, but the Goldstorm results have been so outstanding that drill has been moved back over to join in the drilling there.

From one point of view, this drilling campaign has been a failure, given that its stated goal is to define the limits of mineralization at Goldstorm. That's a failure we can all live with...

Silver Bull Resources aka SVB released another bizarre PR. They have spun out the Kazakhstan properties to another company which cannot be traded, taking great pains to tell shareholders they are making no effort to list it separately. I am hoping they are actually trying to list it but the lawyers are telling them to stay mum, because other wise these shares are worthless, leaving SVB only with their Sierra Mojada property in Meixco, which is also currently worthless because it has been blockaded for years.

I have tried to query management on what the heck is going on with SVB but once I started asking pointed questions they cut off communication. Perhaps, as has been suggested, this is the next step into driving the company into the ground so the assets can be taken private by current 'management',

ca.finance.yahoo.com

I am guessing the folks who run Nomad Royalties aka NSR might be starting to panic a bit. They did a reverse split recently to get their share price high enough to meet the $US5 threshold for listing on the NYSE, but the share price has been relentlessly dropping, now almost down to $US6. Given that the major shareholders are a bunch of Australian billionaires, I beat management is getting heat from the rich guys. IMO their best hope right now is the PoG to bottom before too long, which is possible.

James,
good article but do you see world greatest and world top geologist there? I do see AMX Chairman of the Board as the 3rd co-Author though and another AMX staff

Dr.Gaboury is one of the worlds top gold geos.He is the one who did the study on why Perron is one of the richest gold deposits in Canada due to its hydrogen high heat implacement of gold concentration that is only seen in very rare deposits around the globe. In a video last week the AMX geo chairman explains Gaboury findings of the geologic event at Perron that he calls one of a kind due to its hydrogen content during hydro thermal emplacement phase.
