Geoff reminds me of Henry Badowski who produce only ONE ultra-beautiful wonderful charming pop album that was completely ignored by almost everyone. Captain Sensible of the Damned (among other professionals) however called Henry a genius.
To introduce myself... I'm the guy at Tower Records who treated you badly in the 80s... If I worked there now I'd be nice, I was always nice to really old people like you folks.
I think Jack Black's character was based upon me, although I'm much more of a snob.

Colter Wall sounds interesting even though I don't like much C&W. Reminds me of Fred Eaglesmith... I'm gonna recommend Fred to you. I went to see Fred on the advice of a friend and thought "Oh, this is why people like country music."
Fred is fairly obscure... except among professionals, particularly country/folk/bluegrass professionals. Several of fame have recorded his songs.
Seeing Fred is like seeing W.C. Fields baby with Hank Williams. He's funny as hell but he's the deep real thing, very good arranger too. Lived the real life on trains, farming which he failed at finally resorting to trying to make it as a musician. Over the years he's built a small but dedicated group of fans who call themselves Fredheads, he self produces his albums, buys and sells vintage guitars. He will be playing something vintage if you are lucky enough to see him live.
If you like country rock/rockabilly I'd rec 50-Odd Dollars, or Cha Cha Cha... if you're more into folk his earlier music with the Flying Squirrels, blugrass would be Fred with the Flathead Noodlers. Fred likes Trains and sometimes older women.
Maybe a little too weird. David combines, American Indian & Christian religious fervor with antique instruments sometimes veering into industrial rock... however his shows are known to be very compelling.
For the past few years this has been my hands down favorite band... I constantly search for the new and deserving of wider attention... there is nothing like Major Parkinson...
I've always championed obscure bands deserving wider recognition going way back to Zappa's first album.
Unlikely Norwegians mostly, Jon is the inspirer, surreal lyrics, wonderful compositions not always complex like this one but almost always compelling if you have the attention span and he's the best most gifted arranger in rock. All of their songs are completely different. Jon's musical influences are very unusual to say the least. A couple are Girl groups from the 60s, and guitar bands like The Shadows.
They have 5 albums available on Bandcamp... I love all of them, which for a snob like me is unusual.
