Sandra Bernhard Signs Deal With Q Television Network to Co-Host 'Queer Edge With Jack E. Jett'
Jan 11, 2006 10:07:00 AM
BURBANK, Calif., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Q Television Network (QTN) (OTC: QBID) announced today that Sandra Bernhard has inked a deal to co-host forty (40) episodes of "Queer Edge with Jack E. Jett" beginning January 16th. In addition, Bernhard is also in negotiations to develop her very own series for the network. "Queer Edge with Jack E. Jett" airs nightly at 10 pm EST / 7 pm PST.

"Sandra Bernhard is a fearless performer and iconic voice in our community," stated Alexis Fish, Senior Executive Vice President. "It is a tremendous honor and right of passage for us at QTN to showcase this caliber of artist and activist."

For 25 years, Sandra Bernhard has been challenging fans and critics with her knife-edged humor, satire and emotive performances on film, television and stage. Her critically acclaimed 1998, one-woman Broadway hit, "I'm Still Here...Damn It!" which played the Booth Theater, had critics raving. Since her first film accolades in 1983 in Martin Scorseses', "The King of Comedy" featuring Jerry Lewis and Robert De Niro, Bernhard has since appeared in numerous films including "Inside Monkey Zetterland," "Hudson Hawk" and more recently, "Dinner Rush." Throughout her career, Bernhard's formidable presence has also had a place on television. From 1991-1996, she portrayed Nancy on "Roseanne," and has had guest starring roles on "Ally McBeal," "Chicago Hope" and "Will & Grace." She hosted the season premiere of "MadTV" and the Bravo network recently profiled her career. In 2001, Bernhard hosted her own talk show, "The Sandra Bernhard Experience" for A&E television.

The irreverent and subversive Jack E. Jett, a self-described, "Homosupremacist" says "Sandra and I won't be trying to find an audience, we'll be looking for accomplices!"

A nightly talk show like nothing you've ever seen, "Queer Edge with Jack E. Jett" takes comedy to a whole new level. Host Jett focuses on pop culture and subculture with a cutting edge that is dynamic, witty and downright zany. The show covers everything from arts and news to celebrities and Internet subcultures -- all from a refreshing GLBT perspective. "Queer Edge" gives viewers a truly out-of-this-world experience as they are launched into the outlandish conversations between Jett and his hosts. Jack E. Jett's "Queer Edge" encompasses all that is queer in the world of counter-culture; in an effort to show that the word "queer" is more that just a term for gays.

Jan 18, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Taking a leadership role in television's move to incorporate interactive mobile branding and commerce, Q Television Network (OTC: QBID) has announced the launch of QTN Mobile and its partnership with Mobile Accord, a leader in the application of mobile technology. The premium network for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals (GLBT) will embrace the mobile channel by employing SMS text messaging based solutions to give its viewers yet another way of interacting with the QTN brand. With the potential to reach more than 195 million cell phone users in the U.S., this new mobile channel technology will allow the network to boost viewership, acquire new subscribers and extend its content into the mobile space, driving new revenue streams through downloads of wallpapers, ringtones and exclusive interactive content.

QTN plans to use Mobile Accord's technology to introduce wireless fundraising programs at GLBT festivals in 10 major metropolitan markets throughout the coming year where attendees will be able to instantly donate money to select charities. In exchange, donors will receive mobile content to showcase their support, along with the opportunity to sign up for future mobile alerts from QTN.

"We are pleased to partner with a forward thinking content provider like QTN," said Tony Aiello, Mobile Accord's Vice President of Business Development. 80’s Pop Star Coming Out

Gioia Bruno, formerly of the 80’s pop group Expose, has agreed to come out to her fans on an upcoming television show, officially revealing that she is bisexual.

The singer and former 80’s icon will appear on US LGBT television network Q, on a programme called Brunch. She has been a fixture at gay pride rallies, clubs and events for years, but always denied she was gay.

Bruno quit the pop group in 1992 for health reasons. Now Q television Vice-President Scott Withers says he is honoured and excited that “a celebrity of Gioia's calibre” will come out to her fans and talk about her personal life on Brunch.

The programme will air tomorrow in America, during which Bruno tells the public “"I never wanted to put a label on myself but, yes, I have dated women. It's about the person and what's in their soul… I think everybody's got a little queer in them.”
