USA may already be in a recession. The consumer is spent out and in over its head in debt. If you listen to company conference calls, like I do, you will hear this recurrent theme from most companies.

Next weekly unemployment claims should be interesting. Do claims rise again or do they go back to the 230s?

I went on the Schwab web site to place a order for a 6 month T-Bill and I get this message before I make the trade:

" It is possible that rates on Treasury securities purchased at auction could be negative resulting in a loss to you."

How is that possible if I am buying a 6 month T-Bill?

What on earth can that mean? It only makes sense if rates are at Zero or negative, which they are not at the present time?

Try making a trade online for a Treasury Auction on Schwab's web site, you will see it.

Do you make your Treasury Auction trades online or do you call it in?

I usually make my Treasury Auction trades online. I've only made a couple at Schwab. Most of my Treasury Auction trades are at Vanguard.

Best wishes,

I just put in a bid for a small 6-month T-Bill at auction on the Schwab web site. I didn't see anything unusual.

"Buy at Auction $10,000 US Treasury BILL 02/06/2025 @ Market, Day Only"

I called up Schwab and asked them about it. They said it was a disclaimer in case interest rates head back to zero again..
