Makes sense. 'Certain people' would be offended.
Self-castration... it's going around.

I am slogging through "Truman" by David McCullough (992 pages!) and am struck by the contrasts - Truman read through 6-8" folders overnight and came back in the morning having digested them, etc. That's only 1 of 100s so far.

attempting to describe the vibes of the moment. have yet to do better than: "imagine watching a documentary reenacting the burning of the Library of Alexandria set to the soundtrack of 'Yakety Sax'"

Someone woke the hibernating bears, and they are not happy---

"Senate Phone System Receiving 40 Times More Calls Than Usual
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) thanked her constituents for their patience in trying to get through the Senate phone lines, explaining that call volume is currently through the roof — a sign that voters have things to say about Trump and Elon Musk.

“The U.S. Senate phone system has been receiving around 1,600 calls each minute, compared to the 40 calls per minute we usually receive, which has disrupted our call systems,” Murkowski wrote on Facebook."

This post and replies are important and a bit exhausting. You have to scroll down to find the fact check from mediaite. In case you don't want to scroll, here is the link: mediaite.com

Leavitt: "I was made aware of the funding from USAID to media outlets, including Politico, who I know has a seat in this room. I can confirm the more than 8m taxpayer dollars that have gone to subsidizing subscriptions to Politico will no longer be happening. The DOGE team is working on canceling."

Hitler when he came to power in Germany his first decree was to shut down the media. Trump has down the same thing! You have to shut down the truth so the lies can be the only source for controlling the minds of the citizens.

Trump is a clown compared to Hitler -- but both built a cult like control of their masses.

I studied group psychology and behaviors in back in my days at San Jose State; there were contagions in all cult movements that almost replicated physical viruses.

Who knew in 1973 there would be a virtual neural-network online where people's (privately exposed) fears and blind bias could be hacked in realtime.

Like all technology, the web can be used for good or evil. We know the names here on SI.

Now we have AI arriving. WTF, what is truth when evidence and empirical experiences are controlled by the most powerful special interests through an expanding cult??

The question is, like in Superman comics, in the end, can Truth and Justice (capital T's) prevail? Will they?

Or are we non-asshole skeptical humble minds condemned to become extinct like the dinosaurs? Or will it end like Germany and Hitler in 1945, after all the casualties and destruction?

“After being married for 50 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, ‘Fifty years ago we had a cheap house, a junk car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep with a hot 23-year-old girl every night.
Now, I have a $500,000 home, a $45,000 car, a nice big bed and a large screen TV, but I'm sleeping with a 69-year-old woman. It seems to me that you're not holding up your side of things.’
My wife is a very reasonable woman. She told me to go out and find a hot 23-year-old girl and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap house, driving a junk car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV.
Aren't older women great? They really know how to solve an old guy's problems.”
