Joseph, on this one I have to disagree with you once again, like on
ISSI. You can never spend "too much" on R@D and building new plants,
especially if you are Intel and have a lot to lose in case of
diminished market share. Right? Intel is about to deliver a very
strong blow to competitors with price cutting this quarter.
We know it, the Street knows it and look at the price action today on
higher than average volume!
We might be talking three-digit numbers soon.
If you want to make big money on Intel, buy the warrants, like me.
While the stock has gone from 28 to 70 this year, the warrant has
gone up from 6 to 37. Which should explain why do I like Intel so
much, without owning a single common share.

I don't know about putting Bill Gates away, but I agree with everything else you said. I couldn't say it better!

I got that statement about Compaq trying to help smaller companies from the "Heard on the Street" section of the Wall Street Journal. It was sometime last week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday, you should read it. Also, Bill Gates and Microsoft are not going to get "put away" by Intel. Nothing is going to put away Microsoft as long as Gates is there. However, it would be interesting to see a merger between Intel and Microsoft sometime in the future (however, the Justice Dept. wouldn't let that happen). Nevertheless, just think about what kind of company "MicroTel" could be!

Well, in case you haven't heard, Compaq has agreed to use
the Pentium Pro.

I don't know about Compaq's view concerning Intel's entrance into
the PC market. There hasn't been much information about that (i.e.
no info on production costs, what type of PC's they are putting
out, pricing, release dates, etc.)

So we will have to sit tight and wait.

What I do know is that Intel is still a buy at the low 70's.

I would look for $80-90 short term.

You're right. I checked it out. I think Intel may $80-90 in the
next 2 months.

I don't think it will stay there though.

I would probably start selling at $80 and look to buy it back at
the low 70s.

I think earnings may be disappointing for the 4th quarter (not just
for Intel).

What's the time to expiration for Intel's warrant? The reason I ask is because the longer the warrant's life, the higher the value of warrants. On the other hand, after the expiration date, the warrant has no value.

Like I said, we all know that Intel is cutting margins now,
but it is putting the competition away as well. Intel
has one of the fattest margins too. And nobody expects it to
earn 1.50/sh. either. The multiple of Intel is low - only
15, while Hewlett is trading at 19!? There is room for improvement,
and the future grouth should and will be factored in the stock's
price. I also think we are passing the low 70's and won't be
here again before another stock split. Call me bullish, but we'll
discuss Intel's price again in December.

The warrants expire in March 1998, so you will be safe now.
You can also sell them to somebody, or tender them along with
some cash for Intel common shares. Volatility is much higher
though. Still, consider this - yesterday Intel picked up 2 or
2.95 %. By comparison, Intel warrant picked up 1 3/8 or 3.85 %.
