AV,

And as for the advertising business open for all ... did you know that after the Oklahoma explosions and before it was found that it was Timothy McVeigh who did, Muslims were denied to express their condolences to the families of the dead ! and they were refused to be allowed to help in the on-going efforts !... WHY, because the community thought that it was a Muslim who did it... so, do you really believe that the media was open or would have been receptive after 9/11?

So, you conclude that that there was the practical impossibility of making their voice heard due to what you perceive as an unyielding, monolithic American media. However, in your first reply to me, you said, "I agree with you and with anyone in saying that the Islamic world should have done more... way much more...

for example, the Islamic world should have organised a massive media campaign clarifying such issues ... this unfortunately did not happen."

One the one hand, you say they should have done more; but on the other hand you say they couldn't do more. You cannot put forth both as your defense of their lack of 'organizing a massive media campaign to clarify such issues,' for no one is held accountable to do what they cannot do.

Don't believe a word of what crap this AV is telling you, you know as well as I do that if their moslum leaders spoke out against terrorism it would be sensational news... if you want proof, you can phone any news reporter and as if they would cover that kind of story... I can guarantee you that most any reporter would take the story and splash it all over the headlines... prove me wrong...

Stan, who says that Islamic countries, anyone of them for that matter can not or should not have their own satellite broadcasting? this is the best way of doing more.

and yes, they should have done more, I do not know if any tried and were denied, or if they presumed that they will be denied acquiring media time based on past experiences such as the Oklahoma explosions, or they simply prefer to give the $$ to arms dealers than making a case, or they prefer to adopt a wait and see approach not to risk the authority & position they have, or whatever other issues that might have contributed to the laxity in making a case...

AV,

The clearest point I take from your replies, and the one I wish to limit myself in addressing, comes from your use of the word "should." That word implies a moral obligation. Even as a Muslim layman (I am assuming), you are making the case. Yet, the leadership -- the ones with the power and authrority and means -- are not. If someone fails to meet a moral obligation, then others have the right to call them on it until they make it good, even if it is the insiders like yourself calling for it. In the meantime, the fair observer must consider Muslim leadership guilty of omission.

There is an ancient maxim of the law: "Qui tacet consentire videtur." "He who is silent appears to consent."

This leads me back to my original assertion: that by their silence they consent to the terror done in the name of Islam. As long as they do not take the steps that even you, a Muslim non-cleric, have very ably suggested they should take, I will hold that view.

AV, why did you choose to delete the post referenced in the link below instead of discussing it? Is suppression of the news a good idea? How come you would rather suppress the news instead of discussing it? Was it an embarrassment to you? I'm just curious... TIA

AV, the post you intentionally deleted was a news report from a reliable news service that reported more than 50 girls were not allowed to leave a burning school building because they weren't wearing some religious article of clothing because they were trying to run for their lives from the fire that was consuming the school and which eventually killed all of them as a result... it was reported that these girls were already fully dressed, but just didn't grab that one piece of religious garb since they were in such a panic to escape the huge fire... could you kindly discuss and explain according to your religion why the religious leaders at that school took such action to block those girls from leaving which resulted in all their deaths? TIA

AV, could you kindly explain why a passport photo of a 5 year old girl was refused because her shoulders were bare and because "it might offend moslums?" TIA
