While at Home Depot the other day I noticed Paypal as a payment option on the self checkout screen. I see this type of penetration as a positive - so I'm going to try and buy something using my account. Turns out I use paypal a lot for ebay, but never installed the phone app - have now and it looks like to checkout you use your phone number and a pin. Will report back after I use it - it also showed a list of stores nearby that accepted paypal.
Yesterday I read this blog from a Merchant account provider saying that Paypal will terminate our accounts for various reasons. As PayPal is not concerned with background checks while registration it 's easy for a quick signup. But when a significant issues occur they will terminate our account, Even our competitor or an ex-employee can fake report our account.
"I’m pleased to report that PayPal ended 2016 with another strong quarter of financial results. We extended our industry leadership by generating 18 million active customer accounts, with greater engagement than ever before. We innovated across our merchant and consumer value propositions and extended our lead in mobile payments," said Dan Schulman, President and CEO of PayPal. "In the past year, we transformed our market opportunity with a series of strategic partnerships with networks, financial institutions, technology companies, and mobile carriers. We accomplished all of this by putting our customers first, in everything we do. At the end of a landmark year for PayPal, we feel well positioned to deliver sustainable and profitable growth in 2017 and beyond."
