But Putin made his initial comments prior to the release of the tape. It was a simple grasp of the situation, despite specific policy differences.

Hillary gearing up for 08, you think? My favorite for 08 is Evan Bayh. He comes from a red state and is the son of a famous kennedy democrat--Birch Bayh. He is attractive and moderate. A Clinton from the mideast with a zipper that works. Given these results it will be hard to go in the Hillary direction. mike

Was it last wednesday? I thought it was today. That makes him smarter than me, but he is also meaner. Mike

There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth in Liberal Land today. They believe their own brief against Bush. From their perspective, he should have lost BIG, not won respectably. If Kerry couldn't beat him, they pretty much have to stick with moderates. Hillary need not apply.........

I hope the chickens that Bush hatched don't come home to roost but I'm not hopeful.

Well, I guess where there's hope there's not hope.;)

Glad you mentioned that. I wanted to stay "on message", but it is worth noting.

The pop vote really points out the disconnect between flyover country and the Northeast, Far West and uppermidwest. Most assume dems can never overcome this. I think "new democrats" can win next time. Both parties have to expand their base into the others area. Republicans have the advantage but i would maintain that if the democrats had nominated Dick Gephart instead of kerry, Gephardt would have won enough electoral votes to have won. Next time there will be some new democrats like Bayh in the mix. Mike
