All I remember about Top Cat was he was the ya in hoo the wheat in wheaties the icing on cake. He thought he was so cool and he was right. All of the action took place in the alley. He lived in a garbage can that was backed up to a wooden fence. There was a city beyond the fence and I always thought it had to be NY. I think that sometimes he went out of the alley and walked down the sidewalk. Something about a fire hydrant too? He bossed other cats around but not the ladies. Ohhh he was smooth with the ladies. He always got the t bone bone and the last lick of the tuna can. I don't remember if there was a hanger on-er but I bet there was. He had a gravely voice and a fun loving spirit but could be mean too. Kind of like Larry of the three stooges. He never missed a beat. He had a kind of jaunty step. Didn't walk like a regular guy. He was always on two feet. He was black but may have had some white too? If I remember correctly it was all in black and white? M

Well thank you for that. What memories I do have are vague but for some reason I always thought that Top Cat was so cool. I don't know why I remember him in black and white, but that certainly was him in all of his living color. Hard to stretch back 40 years with clarity. ;-) M

Where are all the good tv shows gone?
I miss the Jackie Gleason Show, the Milton Berle Texaco hour.
Jack Benny, and even Carol Burnett. All Comedy in it's finest hour.
What about Laugh-in, and the Gold Diggers with Dean Martin.
I guess the good writers have all passed on .
all comments welcome.

Ed Sullivan for entertainment, Gunsmoke for drama. I barely remember the show that was more of a play than anything else. (might have been the Texaco Hour?) Different plot each week but riveting in it's art. The way the sets were displayed with the barest of props and the way the shadows played with the lights. I thought that I would be one of the actors when I grew up. I held them in great esteem. The twilight zone and it's simplicity was all I needed to take me to other worlds. And the Sci Fi that followed. Outer limits, the really dumb Lost in Space. I have been a Sci Fi fan ever since. Kind of all evolved into 2001 A Space Odyssey, and Hal is among us. M
