"Protection" on Britbox was a rollercoaster ride to the finish with one of the better twisty miniseries plots I have seen from UK TV.

I don't know if it will have a second series beyond this story arc (like "The Tower" morphed into), but I would certainly watch it with the same writers.

We've been watching 'The Bureau' a French espionage thriller. It's pretty good.
French, with subtitles

I see there's an American remake just out, as well.

I checked Amazon; they show the French version not available. Where did you see it?

I generally don't watch any US shows about spies or diplomats since they literally have nothing to do with those actual professions as they are practiced. It's just Hollywood crap, even when it's entertaining.

We got the DVD set for Christmas. It was on the Kino Lorber label.
We do fire up the old DVD player now and then :)

We finished our rewatching adventure of "Inspector George Gently," now high in the canon of British detective shows for me despite an odd final episode that gave in way too much to melodrama.

If I had a loved one hurt in a mysterious crime, he's the guy I would want on the case. Plus he only yells when it's really required unlike most senior UK police types in every other show out there.

Now we'll give "Vera" a try since we never got into it much. First episode was good but complicated. I'll have to pay more attention next time.

We've started 'The Breakthrough' on Netflix, a Swedish murder mystery with the brooding, understated
head detective starting on the case... .and a hint about who the murderer might be.

We wanted to like "Bad Sisters" but realized early in episode 3 that we really didn't like anyone on the show. Makes it hard.

Had the same problem with the one episode of "Slow Horses."

Slow Horses is a sketchy version of the books, which are fairly dense and very British.
Having read the books, increased my appreciation of the TV series, but it is an acquired taste.
Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas are quite good at filling the shoes of the characters in the book.
We liked season one of Bad Sisters, with season two the farcical went off the rails.
