From: Ron | 6/29/2024 3:21:58 PM | | | | We're catching up with the final season of 'Vikings' on Netflix. A historical soap opera with gore. Then, as a chaser, we usually watch an episode of 'Young Sheldon'.
I've been reading 'North Woods' an unusual work of historical fiction with several threads revolving around an old house in New England. Very good so far.

A class at NC State University has been reading my climate fiction book, 'The Hurricane Code'. The professor has asked me to take questions from the class later in summer session. That should be fun--I think.... |

From: Jhana | 7/1/2024 5:29:29 PM | | | | Sad to say, but I will pass on the latest series of "Game of Thrones - House of Dragons." I tried to start catching up last night and had zero interest in the latest contenders for the spiky chair. I'm not alone, according to reviews and comments I read.
Probably the same reason I bailed on the next to last "Mad Max" movie and never considered watching the latest. It's just the same set of visuals dragged across the screen one more time. |

From: Jhana | 7/2/2024 4:52:09 PM | | | | Another strong Aussie series is the political drama "Total Control" about a woman PM who appoints an Aborigine senator from a small town for appearances, then of course discovers she has put someone very independent into the job. On Acorn APV. |

From: Jhana | 7/6/2024 3:24:08 PM | | | | The 1988 film "White Mischief" bears a strong resemblance to "Indian Summers" on many levels and holds up well as a re-watch more than three decades later. If you like colonial indulgence and angst plus lots of steamy flesh, it's a good one. On APV. |

From: Jhana | 7/7/2024 9:01:02 AM | | | | If you can get into the comic goof of "Bridgerton" then you have to try "My Lady Jane" on APV, a spoof of Britain's 9-day queen with a gratuitous supernatural element thrown in to.
Lots of fun. of magical realis
Are you ready for an epic tale of true love, high adventure, regicidal maniacs, deadpan heroism, devious intrigues, swashbuckling swordfights, a soupçon of magical realism and oodles of yearning, banter and undeniable chemistry? Of course you are. Welcome to My Lady Jane. |

From: Jhana | 7/15/2024 9:28:41 AM | | | | The new season of "Vikings: Valhalla" on Netflix is right on brand with familiar faces and a few new too since it's 7 years after the last season ended. Counting the original version's six seasons, this show has become an old friend that never went off the rails. |
