QuickLogic Announces uWatt Programmable Controller for the Intel PXA2XX Processor Line
Monday May 2, 8:30 am ET

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2005--QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq: QUIK - News):
Ultra Low Power Programmable Controller enables rapid adoption of Miniature Hard Disk Drive (HDD) technologies into Intel® PXA2XX-based embedded systems
QuickLogic HDD Solution Pack reduces risk and time to market
QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq: QUIK - News), a pioneer of Embedded Standard Products and uWatt FPGAs, announced their uWatt Programmable Controller optimized for the Intel® PXA2XX Processor line based on Intel's XScale® technology. The QuickLogic programmable Hard Disk Drive (HDD) controller solution enables designers to expand the Intel® PXA2XX processor's native interface set to communicate with IDE-based HDDs. Applications such as Handheld Navigational Equipment, Portable Media Players and Portable Medical Systems all stand to benefit from QuickLogic's industry-leading low power technology.

The QuickLogic programmable controller has been architected specifically to ensure the highest system bandwidth at the lowest power consumption. In consumer electronic (CE) products, particularly multimedia players, processor bandwidth is a precious commodity. By embedding dedicated sector buffers, and by offloading the PXA processor from managing the overhead of IDE timing and polling operations, the QuickLogic controller enables the PXA processor to operate on other processor-intensive tasks concurrently.

In addition to the device itself, QuickLogic has developed a complete HDD Solution Pack that includes a daughtercard for the Intel® PXA270-based Processor Developer's Kit ("Mainstone" DVK) and a complete Board Support Package (BSP) for the Windows CE and Windows Mobile operating systems. A BSP for the Linux operating system will be released in the near future. The daughter card supports all IDE-compatible HDDs, including the 1.8" and 1.0" form factor miniature disk drives optimized for space-constrained and power-starved consumer products. The Solution Pack enables designers to make system architecture tradeoffs including power consumption, performance and cost, improving developers' time to market and eliminating risk.

"The combination of Intel's PXA processor and QuickLogic's programmable IDE controller is the ideal solution for system developers looking for a low power, high performance answer to the challenge of adding hard disk storage to their portable embedded systems," said Kevin Yee, QuickLogic's Director of Business Development.

"Small form factor storage (HDD) is a key element for today's latest embedded handheld applications where a very large amount of storage of data and rich media is required, such as portable media players and navigation systems," said Scott Dunagan, Intel's Director of Marketing for embedded PXA2XX products. "QuickLogic's uWatt programmable controller provides our embedded customers with a hard disk drive solution with minimal impact to system cost, power and board space."

The release of this uWatt programmable controller solution underscores QuickLogic's commitment to providing low power connectivity between the Intel® PXA2XX family of processors and a host of emerging networking, storage and media processing technologies that target portable and handheld markets. QuickLogic recently announced its first uWatt programmable bridge enabling the seamless integration of PCI-based peripherals such as Wi-Fi chipsets, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) devices and Ethernet controllers into embedded systems based on the Intel PXA2XX processor line.

QuickLogic will host a TechOnLine online seminar related to this announcement on May 4, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., PST. To register for the seminar, please go to: www.quicklogic.com/seminar

QuickLogic Continues Its Focus on Low-Power Portable Applications by Joining SD Card and CE-ATA Organizations
Tuesday August 16, 8:01 am ET

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2005--QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq:QUIK - News)
QuickLogic's Comprehensive Low-Power Solution Includes Software, Hardware, Partners and Now Standards
QuickLogic and Industry Consortium Share in the Goal of Providing Solutions to Power-Sensitive Portable Consumer Products That Include Smart Phones, PDAs, Portable Media Players, and GPS Handhelds
QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq:QUIK - News), the low power programmable logic leader, today announced it has joined both the SD Card Association and the CE-ATA Organization. The SD Card and CE-ATA groups develop low-power bus and form factor standards for memory, networking and storage peripherals that will be adopted into portable consumer products. By joining these groups, QuickLogic enhances its low-power ecosystem that includes Eclipse II FPGAs, PowerAware software and strong industry partners.

"QuickLogic has demonstrated industry leadership by providing ultra low-power FPGA solutions for power-sensitive, portable products," said Kevin Yee, Director of Business Development. "We are extending our commitment to portable consumer products through our membership in the SD Card and CE-ATA organization, and we believe that through our membership, we can share our expertise in dealing with power issues while simultaneously gathering additional information on how to better serve our customers."

QuickLogic introduced its first family of uWatt programmable bridges earlier this year to provide efficient Wi-Fi and hard disk drive connectivity for users of embedded processors including Intel's PXA product family. In addition to providing the desired interfaces, the programmable nature of the devices enables a high degree of customization, providing opportunities to perform sophisticated power management, reduce the loading on the main processor and securely implement content authentication logic.

About SD Card Association and CE-ATA

The SD Card Association (www.sdcard.org) aims to establish the technical and specification standards for SD Memory Card applications, to continuously promote the SD memory card as the de-facto industry standard, and to encourage the development of digital A/V, wireless communication, and digital networking products that utilize the many unique benefits of SD technology.

Leading industry consumer and storage companies are spearheading the CE-ATA initiative (www.ce-ata.org) to define a storage interface tailored to the needs of the handheld and consumer electronics (CE) market segments. The objective of the initiative is to define a standard interface for small form factor disk drives that addresses the requirements of the handheld and CE market segments, including low pin count, low voltage, power efficiency, cost effectiveness, and integration efficiency.
