Chris and Buckfa,

Nice two point move up so far thanks to a the initiation of a buy recommendation put out by Deutsche Morgan Grenfell today. Don't know any specifics, anyone else out there know anymore? Threads been quiet.

This thread goes in spurts. With the down day a la Intel might be a better buy, I am going to wait it out until between 30-31, have a buy in @ 30 1/2.

Buckfa:

I cringed when I heard about the dip after the close yesterday in Intel and wondered how much we would get hit, obviously it was quick and not too deep. I agree your buy is a good price if it will dip down; will be buying AATT, AHA, or RENX on any weakness, just a matter of which one triggers first. Good luck and keep the faith, all those chips will need cooling at some point.

Nice article in today's IBD about AATT (Pg.4: The New America). Perhaps the publicity will generate some buying interest. I've noticed that happen in the past on other companies featured in IBD.

Good luck!

After two months and complete silence from Aavid about your question as to why Aavid may have lost heat pipe technology based cooling products business for portable applications where Intel appears to be the customer in the Intel/Fujitsu/Sumitomo Light Metals project, I can only offer the following: Intel picks its technology sources as it pleases them and they were apparently impressed with the technology coming out of Japan. Nevertheless, I have considered for some time that "integrated heat pipe / heat spreader / with and without fan equipped condensor-heat exchangers" constitutes technology critical to Aavid's future as the industry leader. Aavid has the technical talent and financial wherewithall to bring such technology to market. Aavid probably has some time to do so to favorabley impact its markets in digital and power electronics. Historically, Aavid has not had a strong presence in portable computing which is apparently seeing a high volume potential need for this technology first. You were wise to ask the question; based upon the lack of company response and what little I know, I suspect the answer is not currently positive which is a disappointment to me, and the reality of which Aavid needs to act on.

DOWN OVER 15%! Anyone out there know anything that might be causing this? Is it just a profit taking cycle or are we in trouble? Why doesn't this company answer questions from stock holders?

Woody,

I don't know the answer to your question, wondered myself; earnings not due to be released for another couple of months. Good press with IBD and announcement of Ford contract so.....

I just re-established a big position at 29 after being mad I missed 30 the other day and I just returned from the Memorial Tournament to see it hit 28 1/4. I consider it a bargain based on PE vs growth rate and the niche they are in. I was disappointed after an earlier post to learn it was not Intel that they had Pentium orders for but the OEM's that install the chip but hopefully they have the big boys and will get cracking on the laptop issue soon.

Good luck!

I'm new to this thread and relatively new to AATT...but the way the stock is moving I may not stick around. I can't find any news to explain what looks like almost panic selling today. Down almost another 10% with over 140,000 share traded at 12 pm Monday.

No other message boards I've checked seem to understand either. Anyone here have any thoughts???
