My understanding is that Gore's family, which is no poor family by any measure, owns a few hundred thousand dollars worth of Occidental stock. Hardly a large position, especially when compared with the monstrous oil fields that Cheney and Bush and their cronies own.
I found this quote somewhere on the Internet but have not substantiated its source...
"As for current Occidental stock held by the family, Gore says it is an estate holding consisting of his late father's assets over which he exercises no control.
"'According to his will, that [Occidental stock] was put into a trust fund to benefit my mother for the remainder of her life, and I was named executor of his will,' Gore said during a rare press conference in Tennessee." |

silverberg once said that msft's was the 'most profitable business which is legal.' well i think that was an historical anomaly and now we're 'reverting to the norm,' whatever that ends up being.
i still think that, for whatever reason the clinton administration has it in for gates and co.

well, msft deserves what it gets then...
it's fun to see people hold msft up as being today's reardon steel.
many of the employees are libertarian, but there are a scary number of left-wing nuts in that place too.
