By the time K8L comes out 4-core Tigerton MP will be here. It's definitely needed at the outer limits of server x86 sockets to maintain AMD's mindshare. Selling $2K server parts rather than $500 derivatives is also another no-brainer which you are finally agreeing with. Also the volumes won't be that low as I expect the HPC crowd to snap them up first along with heavy-duty server users. It should be a nice asp booster. I also did not say bad luck but matters out of their control, you don't judge people at matters outside of their control or shouldn't if you are thinking logically. What should make 45nm smoother is the fact that it won't be the first AMD design on an IBM process and also the technical difference between 45nm and 65nm wil be less than 65nm to 90nm as explained by Hans. Hey though feel free to believe AMD is just plain incompetent if that floats your boat ;-). The real surprise will be 32nm, will Intel even be first there anymore ;-)

Their plasmas have always been awful and they never really put an effort into catching up. The rear projection SXRD is a pretty good entry point right now for people wanting 1080p in the 50 to 70 inch range. I have the 360 but I do like the Nintendo games since I enjoy their franchises and the memories. My first video game console was a Telstar Pong unit so that right there will date me somewhat.

Not a new general rule. Just for Mas and you, and just for insults to the one another without explicit and reasonable arguments in the same post as the insult. Mas just got his final warning. I've spend more than enough time on this shit. It has got to stop. In general for all kinds of accusations I see there is a heck of a lot better discussion afterwards if the arguments are provided together with the insult. I'm obviously proposing that to you all. Yeah, no more than 100 homes on coax so they must have driven fiber very far into the system. I had Comcast high speed Internet service that I was paying about $50 per month for. I don't know how many homes were on the node, but I would guess about 500. Obviously service was ridiculous. I switched to Ma Bell for $17 per month and even at 2mbs it's a lot faster than Comcast was. The quality of service has everything to do with how far fiber is pushed into the system, and not some theoretical speed marketing comes up with. Of course I've still got twisted pair telephone service, something I really don't need, so the difference isn't that much. The frustration factor was the big thing. My general dissatisfaction with Comcast caused me to go with Direct satellite despite cable TV being ok. The problem with VOD is that it can eat up a lot of bandwidth if everyone is watching something different. Let the board know how it works out, I know I'm interested

Dear Rink: I think that HT 3.0 will do best for 8S servers because with HT link splitting, an 8S box has 28 direct CPU to CPU links and 8 links for I/O available. That means any core is, at most, only one hop from any other core or ODMC. You can also use 6 of those to form a 3D mesh clustering 8S nodes using the 1 meter capacitive interconnect of HT 3.0. Such a system would be useful in making poor man's supercomputers. Otherwise 8 8/8 HT links is 64GB/s of I/O at 2GHz HT clock. Pete
