To: Tom Kearney who wrote (1658) | 9/25/2000 1:06:14 PM | From: Lizzie Tudor | | | BEAS is even surprising me. But do you know Ariba and some other b2b's base their product on the weblogic server? A lot of people don't know that. BEA is a stealth b2b play but it isn't a dollar for dollar relationship between bea and ariba since the hosting angle means ariba buys weblogic once and all the customers get the benefit (I think?).
If anybody out there knows how pricing works for a hosted app based on somebody else's hosted app, I'd love to know that. |

Apparently at the C1 user group meeting this last week they unveiled an app that lets vendor A who is running Sap/C1 look into Vendor B's entire supply chain on a Sap system. In other words, anybody running Sap can see anybody else's entire Sap system. Not sure if that will be embraced by customers since it opens up your business to competition, but technically it sounds pretty cool. |

To: Mark Fowler who wrote (1659) | 9/25/2000 1:31:46 PM | From: Si_Detective | | | Mark, I post this on another thread, see if you're interested. Oh, by the way, I bought SNDK at 74 today, I think it's going to make a X'mas run.
some investment ideas, I bought SIMG and GNSS a while ago, both IC company in FPD, digital TV and HDTV, cable set top box market. There's a debate going on on which interface standard to use, 1394 seems getting a upper hand, but Microsoft is pushing DVI(Sept18 issue of EETimes), so does Echo Star. SIMG is the founding member of this standard and GNSS is right behind it. |
