Like the opium wars so Brits could get cheapo tea.. addict an nation ? and later US complicity therein..
or why the US got Alaska .. because the friggin' brits meddled in Crimea.. and the folks that are crying now were themselves invaders..
If Canada had Alaska.. Palin would be smart enough to know she couldn't see Russia
OR how about the most successful theft of intellectual property EVER was perpetrated upon the DF brits by America ? |

I've seen the bottles buried at Kealakekua Bay behind where the first "store" in Hawaii was built by the Brits. I owned the land, bought directly from a wonderful Hawaiian family who had owned it since the Great Mahele. When the ditch witch was trenching it threw out hundreds of opium bottles from the ground.
Sandal wood to China, trade for opium, off to to the NW territories but always have enough left on the return trip to meet the demand in Hawaii....Trade opium for land titles. |

People were friendly .. not intrusive.. if you told the first hawker or cabby you were not interested.. the rest left you alone./. what a pleasant experience that was... Walked te town at night .. felt safe.. no problems.. .. Not the same in Jamaica or Dominican .. It was Mr. Obama's time and the folks were so proud...
Anyway Magen's bay is beautiful .. we went kayaking .. pedal kayaks LOL.. have Kayaked in the Atlantic a few times off the Maritimes but traditional kayaks.. We saw lots of sea turtles.. water was so clear.. Highly recommend...
Don't see though how your post is relevant to mine :0)
The history of Hawaii at that time was the US taking over on the grounds of protecting US biz.. I may never buy a Dole product again :)
Had BoP succeeded in Cuba they might have become part of Fla or the 51st state :) |
