GLW and Samsung's joint venture is very significant development. The key is automation. Until today, key steps in packaging for fiberoptic components are still manual. GLW is moving to change this.

Fiberoptics conference is coming next month. Many companies including GLW are going to announce their new products. I expect this runup to continue after the conf. The industry outlook is so good.

Andy, It looks like GLW has been consolodating for a few days while SDLI and JDSU, are having their day.

I think we are getting ready for this stock to rocket going into April earnings. There is just so much potential.

The increase in authorized shares is a sure sign of a stock split 2 for 1 OR 3 for 1 and this type of news does drive these stocks. The vote to increase authorized shares is April 27 and they can announce a split anytime leading up to earnings. I would think they will try to boost their stock as much as possible so that stock price is utilized as currency to the fullest extent. They know how JDSU did it.

GLW is one of best fiberoptics companies in the world. Using any weakness to buy more shares. I am buying whenever I have extra money. GLW announced Interleave DWDM products today. The interleave technology was used by AVNX to do their DWDM, so AVNX is going to face big competitions. GLW is the the fiberoptics company u must own for the next 5 years.

Andy, I agree. Worth holding for a few years. Considering how SDLI has rocketed recently (as has JDSU), it is still good for GLW. Sooner or later, catching up starts--as it did a little while ago. As long as the others keep going up, GLW is setting up for a huge rally, sooner or later.

Corning announced new optical processor and interleave DWDM products today. Corning's new optical signal processor can increase the transfer distance for the optical signal at least five times without reconditioning the signals. GLW is the KING for fiberoptics and passive fiberoptic components.
I guess AVNX is late and facing more and more competitions now.

The GLW's new device involved a method to equalize polarization distortion for the optical signals. They try to cancel the distortion by a phase
compensation. GLW's volume and technology are real and it is in volume production now.

In addition, Corning also announced interleave DWDM products today. Using the interleave technology developed by Corning engineers, GLW is able to make 50 Ghz DWDM filters using 100 Ghz thin film filters, which reduces the cost for DWDM filter significantly.

GLW will demo their new processor during the upcoming OFC conf.

While AVNX is still flighting with their new-processor, Giant Corning is going to move ahead to further distance Corning's lead in fiberoptics technology from their small competitors like avnx...

Andy, GLW finally coming back.
Notice how GLW started tanking in the last few days while some others like JDSU and SDLI started moving up. I decided that GLW dipping while the competitors are going up is a golden opportunity. GLW has been drifting recently on news vacuum except for the story you mentioned. I guess investors felt there was no urgency to buy GLW.

The conference next week will bring in the buyers now and next week. I thought we migh run up in late March but the conference will allow us to go higher in the near term as well.

Stock looks great to me.

GLW is starting to move. Lets see if it breaks through 200 in the near future--ahead of the conference next week.

This stock is likely to draw more shorts to it than a JDSU or SDLI would. That is also good if you are long. I can't image too many investors wanting take profits on this one and that is why I feel short must have intensified recently. Lets see if the short covering intensifies as well!

Of course it is a bargain as well if you are long.

Will be interesting to see if it can start catching up to the others.

Comparing JDSU/ETEK, GLW is well-under valued. The street is going to know it soon. My short term target (6 months) is at 300. GLW is the stock you must own in fiberoptics components.
