Chuckie:

EIDSY is supposed to EARN $2.11/share this quarter -- if they meet that, this stock will soar, and the split WILL help.

As for the products, I'm not a complete gaming geek, but I think EIDOS is the best software company out there, and they have great products out this season -- an impressive collection indeed.

What a knowledgeable, witty bunch here...

... do I detect some anti-EIDOS sentiment?

Why? Because EIDOS is up 450% in 1999, and no other software company is even a close second???

Don't hate it because it's beautiful, kids.

IFG FP (Infogrames)also did well (55 to 165), RGE LN (Rage) from 8 to 58 and GTR from 91 to 400. But it was EIDSY that caught the fancy. I also agree that it may have overreached itself compared with, say, THQI in terms of relative value.

It's not that exactly -- it's just that its rise is puzzling, and no one can explain the puzzle. I don't see reality or hype that justifies its performance, or that supports a prediction that its performance will continue.

> EIDSY is supposed to EARN $2.11/share this

Yeah? Even though its "most popular franchise" looks run into the ground by too many sequels using the same engine and same design ideas? And even tho' EIDSY plans to spend $5m to market that dog? (!)

G'luck! Really. Still nothing you've said seems to justify your "is going to rocket" prediction. Seems to me it's already rocketed.

MmWire November 30, 1999

Fewer new releases coupled with increased levels of development and corporate activity contributed to Eidos [EIDSY] suffering a greater Q3 loss year-on-year. The company reported a net loss of $21.2m, or $1.09/share, on revenues of $45.0m for Q3, which ended September 30. That compares with a net loss of $14.0m, or 81 cents/share, on revenues of $34.8m for the same quarter last year. Eidos made several acquisitions in the quarter, including stakes in Top Cow Productions, Ion Storm, and Maximum Holdings. The company this week ships the latest installment of its most popular franchise, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation for PlayStation and PC. Eidos will spend more than $5m to market the title, supporting it with TV spots on MTV and Comedy Central, outdoor billboards, bus wraps in major US cities, and demo discs. Charlie:

Haven't you heard: the strong get stronger in 2000!!!

That's good news for EIDOS and EA, I believe.

Sure, there may come a time when EIDOS breaks from its long-term bull chart, but it hasn't happened yet, and, in light of an upcoming earnings report that should be spectacular and a 5-for-1 split, I wouldn't want to be short!

If the trend breaks, I'll go elsewhere. Until then, I make money by riding winners, rather than hunting for the beaten down value plays.

The one exception in my portfolio now is AKLM. Under $5, I couldn't resist. I have no love for their products, but they are profitable, and they have been murdered by tax loss selling. I figure the shorts will run for cover next week.

But that's a short-term play, whereas I think EIDSY may continue to perform as well as Lara Croft in a silk teddy!

Cheers!

>>> You're forgetting that recently Ion Storm registered the trademark, "Suck it down." That alone is probably worth 1/2 of EIDSY market cap....<g> <<<

We used that phrase first (spoken in the game) in a commercial PC game product, Rise of the Triad, a 3D shooter we released in 1995.

Charles, does that give us superior rights? ;-)

re: AKLM
My brother-in-law reminded me the convertible note holders' short selling strategy, that can explain the drop of AKLM in past 6 months. The note was sold at ~$5/shr and I expect AKLM has reached the bottom and will reverse after the notes are converted and balance sheet get polished up. AKLM should also benefit from January effect.

re: EIDSY
Sorry, called me jealous or whatever. I don't think EIDSY is a good long at this level. THQI has much better bang for the buck than EIDSY. I am a 50% value investor, 50% position trader, not a momentum player.

I agree with the Eidos is too high arguments.

One guy here said if they make 2.11, it'll rocket.

That's a big if.

I think they are splitting to hide how grossly overvalued the stock currently is. Time will tell.

As I recall, first to register generally prevails, but there are circumstances under which you could try and cancel the mark. As an alternative, you could register "Who's your daddy", "Bend over", and "Here it comes", or some iteration as an alternative for Duke4VR...<g>

Happy New Year!
