Well, here's the good news:

Two strong recovery days back to back.
We're headed into what should be a good earnings season, with only a few biggies warning.
Semiconductors are rumored to have had a great quarter, which should set the stage.
Dr. J said he was "comfortable" with the consensus estimate.
The 4th quarter is the best reporting period of the year for the tech sector.

>> You both should be hard at work, improving your investment skills, so that you
can increase the miserably small size of your portfolios!

I'm only down 9%, and that's after taking out my modest annual salary.

You're down 9.5% without taking out anything.

I'd say you're the one that needs to work a little harder, swivel hips.

Well, a man's gotta know his limitations!

So Uncle Frank,

To ask in appropriate curmudgeon thread lingo, can I ask your opinion of the AOL-TWX merger, or should I just go f$#k myself?

Jeff

me with EMC instead of NTAP.

!@#*$#@!

quit whining!
EMC is good for a double or better every year.

of course I sold 1/2 of my EMC to buy NTAP about a month ago (before the split). NTAP may be good for a double every few months.

Tell ya a funny true story about it...I sold EMC at 85 to buy NTAP at 112...I really did want to do it, but thought I had too. The next day EMC was up 7 and NTAP was down 5...I thought I was a complete F idiot.

Eric, you dumbass. I told you about NTAP. I told you about EMC. Did you fricking listen? Hell, No.

Soak in you own dirty bathwater!

(Note that the closing comment negates the opening tone, making this post neutral rather than rude.)

AOL & TWX? I don't own either of them, but

If I owned twx, I'd be happy
If I owned aol, I'd be unhappy

The arbitrage gang is very quick to peg the relative value
of deals like this. Short term, twx appears to be the winner.

DownSouth,

Neutral is good.

<< I told you about NTAP. I told you about EMC >>

Well, I sorta listened, but I'm old and slow .....

Soon. Gotta dump a Godzilla candidate first ......

Or use the cash from my sale of a GSM carrier stock ...

.... but maybe I should go look at a 2000 Lincoln Navigator with the W.A.V.E. system which includes wireless connections to the Internet, e-mail and corporate Local Area Network (LAN) as well as a ComROAD telematics unit for remote monitoring, entertainment and emergency services.

Darned. It's GSM, not CDMA, but its a neat peak into the future. Check it out at:

127.0.0.1:3456/SI/~wsapi/investor/reply-12532756

You could trade in your new Sony CDMA collectors item (I thought you were the PDQ type) ......
