These guys have incredible technology. Being in the printing industry, we've been playing around with it's possibilities. I didn't realize that it was a publicly traded company until yesterday or I would have already owned the stock - pissed! Bought some today.

I can see Walmart and large grocery chains REQUIRING the use of this technology on all packaging in their stores.

Actually been public for 20 years. I didn't get involved until 2 years ago when I first heard rumblings of a Wal Mart involvement and took a small position around 30.

The story is honestly just starting. Bruce Davis is the CEO and if you have 10 minutes, you should read his prepared remarks in Wednesdays earnings conference call. It's extremely revealing in terms of his vision for the future:

finance.yahoo.com

There is a large short interest which will act as a floor for a while and a break and close above yesterdays high of 50.80 could start a mini stampede. But who the heck knows for sure? Good luck!

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but if you want to see the technology in action download this zip file...

Download press sheet - click on the Download the Digimarc Barcode Test Press Sheet link

... and print it on a color printer. Then download the Digimarc app to your cell phone and use it to verify that a particular image is encoded with Digimarc barcode. It just gives you a dialog that it recognized the images - nothing fancy but lets you see how "invisible" the watermark is. Companies can easily integrate the barcode into their packaging that is virtually invisible to the customer. Scanning items at the checkout counter is significantly sped up due to not having to turn a package so that a traditional barcode can be read - the code is basically encoded over and over on the entire package.

We were hoping to use the technology with our shipping logistics on the 5 to 10 thousand custom photogift products we manufacture and ship every day but unfortunately the technology does not lend itself to being applied to random images. But for packaging it's the perfect solution. HP is really pushing the technology with it's customers.

Yes, you are one of the few who understand the scope of possibilities using the technology. Of course I've had the Digimarc app on my phone since I became acquainted with the scanning possibilities 2 years ago.

The plastic recycling angle could be the largest revenue generator of all. Gonna be fun to watch events unfolding this year. I expect several positive news events by the end of May.

I will add to my position on a close above 50.80. Might be sooner than I think.
