Hi Natasha_Kidd,
with FL announcing their drill results and flag being in the proximity with their ELO holding, I would think there should be some interest. The bigger play however may be the Cobalt Hill when it gets underway.
With the gold price going higher Wolf Lake and Jess Lake where they have already substantial results may get more attention again I think. Also drilling at the eastside of Rathbun Lake may resume this week yet.

Starfield Resources Inc. - Confirmation Assays Increase Platinum And Rhodium Up To 30% - Hole FL02-101W-1 Extends Biotite Alteration Zone (enews)

Starfield Resources has recently received confirmation assays for a high-grade palladium-platinum-rhodium intersection (reported October 3, 2001) in drill hole FL01-101. This higher-grade platinum group (PGE) interval located several meters above the main West Zone nickel-copper-palladium-platinum bearing massive sulphides is hosted by a distinct, fine-grained biotite-rich horizon containing no sulphide mineralization. Petrographic (laboratory) studies have identified the PGE host minerals to be kotulskite (a palladium-tellurium-bismuth mineral) and sperrylite (a platinum-arsenide mineral). Kotulskite and moncheite have also been identified as the principal host minerals for PGE enrichment within the main Ferguson Lake massive sulphide system. Assay results for the PGE horizon are summarized in the accompanying table.

These results, verifying the PGE content of the no-sulphide horizon, are part of a comprehensive assessment of analytical procedures on behalf of Starfield by S. Bruce Ballantyne, consulting geochemist. Further analysis of the overall PGE content, utilizing a second ISO 9002 accredited laboratory, is ongoing by Bruce Ballantyne in consultation with Dr. N.C. Carter, P.Eng., the Company's independent consulting engineer.

Investigation to determine the orientation of the high grade PGM zone is the focus of the current drilling program which got underway in late March. Hole FL01-101 was re-entered and a wedge was set at a depth of 754 meters or 208 meters uphole from the zone of interest.

This first wedge hole (FL02-101W-1) was recently completed to a depth of more than 1,020 meters and intersected two zones of biotite alteration within the host gabbro unit. The first of these 0.70 meters from 957.55 and 958.35 meters consists of 1 mm to 5 cm stringers and 5 to 10 cm clots of relatively coarse-grained, black biotite alteration within gabbro intercepted 3.7 meters above a 1 meter interval of massive and stringer sulphides. The second distinctive alteration zone is developed over a core length of 0.60 meters from 971.00 and 971.60 meters and is bracketed by massive and stringer sulphides. It includes several 0.5 to 2 cm wide stringers of fine-grained brown biotite which cut the gabbro at high angles to the core surface. These intercepts are similar in appearance to the original biotite-PGM zone located in hole FL01-101. Down-hole directional surveys indicate that the biotite alteration zones intersected in this first wedge cut are located between 10 and 12 meters east of the high grade biotite PGM zone intersected FL01-101.

A second wedge hole, designed to test the biotite-rich zone west of the original hole, is currently underway. Selected intervals from hole FL02-101W-1 have been sampled and assay results will be published when received by the Company.

Yes, and all of that is important. But keep your eyes focused on what the company is looking to do on the international level. I'm sure you might be pleased.

Hi Natasha_Kidd dear, whereof do you speak? Tell us more
please :-)
Flag having international connections would be great, but this is the first time I heard of it.Flag does have a number of US shareholders as I know a few of them and there are a few in the UK.
Some action is coming up in the next few weeks and if the POG keeps raising I will have to travel to Sudbury myself and gather up the 2000 ozs of gold with my name on it, just for the heck of it.Might need a few strong arms with a sharp shovel though.cheers!

'some action in the next few weeks'...is a mild understatment. As to flying to Sudbury, have you ever been there? It is the nether region of the world!

Besides, rather than visit that property, you might want to belay that and consider flying to somewhere more exotic in the near future.

Hi Natasha, yes I have been in Sudbury and have a rough idea what it looks like.(had a fairly large holding around Wawa at one time and a relative with a cottage at Georgian Bay)
As for the understatement, I have been accused of hyping before for saying much less, so I'd rather have a pleasant surprise and say nothing.Murdo is on his way to Sudbury right now. So if there is any good news coming, it should come soon.cheers
P.S. for anyone who would like to read the Schandl report, it is a public document and available, I was told, from the CDNX

Sudbury bringing what visual joys that it may...I'd much rather be in the south of Africa, kicking around a well assembled property. I've got to hand it to these guys at Platinum Group, they are making things happen.

Right now, the share price is an absolute gift.

does anyone here follow Trend Mining, the Kaplan/Edelman/Soros PGM vehicle?

i have inherited a very small position in this company, and as a non-geologist, find it almost impossible to evaluate. but then, since it is basically a land position with no established resource, let alone reserve, maybe i need a fortune teller, not a geologist?:-)

be interested to hear from anyone who has an opinion (reasoned or otherwise).

TIA:

peter

No. 02-31 NEWS RELEASE MAY 10, 2002
WHEATON RIVER TO OPTION AND FUND DRILLING ON PART OF PLATINUM GROUP METALS LAC DES ILES AREA HOLDINGS

Platinum Group Metals Ltd. (PTM: TSX Venture Exchange) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an Option Agreement with Wheaton River Minerals Ltd. (“Wheaton River”) whereby Wheaton River can earn up to a 25% interest in the Shelby Lake and Lac des Iles River Properties by funding exploration expenditures totalling $400,000. An initial $200,000 exploration program, which will allow Wheaton River to earn a 10% interest in both properties, is planned to start immediately. PTM will be the operator of the exploration program.

The initial program will include ground geophysics and drilling of approximately 1,000 meters. A minimum of four drill holes, totalling approximately 800 meters are planned to test the Stinger Zone where surface grab sampling returned values of 5.7g/t palladium, 1.0g/t platinum and 0.7g/t gold. This is the first drill test of the Stinger Zone, which is hosted by the Towle Lake Intrusive Complex (TLC). The TLC can be traced for over 20km and hosts at least two other significant platinum-palladium occurrences within PTM’s holdings. The second target, to be targeted by 2 holes, is a distinct geophysical feature near the western end of this trend.

PTM can earn a 50% interest in the Shelby Lake Property by completing expenditures of $500,000 over 4 years and a 60% interest by expending an additional $500,000 over an additional 30-months under an underlying Option Agreement with New Claymore Resources Ltd. PTM holds the right to earn a 50% interest in the Lac des Iles River Property by undertaking exploration expenditures of $1,000,000 over 5 years and a 60% interest by funding a feasibility study under the terms of an underlying agreement with East West Resource Corp. and Maple Minerals Ltd. Wheaton River’s Option is contingent on PTM completing its underlying Option earn -ins. At the end of the initial $200,000 program Wheaton River and PTM have the option of converting the Wheaton River’s property interest to PTM common shares. The obligations of PTM are subject to the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange.

About Platinum Group Metals Ltd.
PTM remains firmly focussed on platinum and palladium mineral exploration and development opportunities and has a large portfolio of mineral rights. PTM recently completed an amalgamation with New Millennium Metals Corp. Both companies have been active platinum-palladium explorers since 2000. A program of 9,000 meters of drilling, as part of a $1.25M program, funded by Anglo Platinum on the company’s Agnew Lake Project was announced April 18, 2002.
PTM has also recently announced (April 24, 2002) a $1,000,000 brokered private placement at $0.25 per Common Share with Pacific International Securities Ltd. contingent on, and to close part and parcel with, a confidential property acquisition target. The Company has received full interest in the potential placement and is now pursuing the acquisition targets.
