As mentioned, despite of the supply chain issue QNX continue to win new design at a very solid pace. In the quarter, we had 23 new design wins, with seven in auto and 16 in the general embedded market, we call it, GEM. Because of our market presence and leading technology, we are a trusted go-to supplier and market leader in auto. Furthermore, we're delighted to announce that we now have design wins with 24 of the world's Top 25 electric vehicle automakers, as measured by volume. Having been selected, most recently by Daimler as part of their design -- as part of their EV design. This is up from the 23 of 25 we had last quarter. These 24 OEMs, between them represent 82% of global EV market -- production, sorry, 82% of global EV production. This demonstrate a leading position we have in this very fast growing part of the auto industry.

Following Q & A is referring to Tesla without mentioning the name.. Since Tesla is the only one with whom BB does not have a deal of some sort..

Todd Coupland -- CIBC -- Analyst

Hey there, John. Nice to talk to you. I'll follow-up on the EV line of questioning. So that 25th OEM, which you don't have, your role is bringing out new vehicles, many new vehicles that are selling well at lower prices, etc. What are the chances, if you're getting into that OEM?

John Chen -- Executive Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

My team promised me, through up and down they're working it. And so I'm hopeful that I -- the fact that they typically like to do compete vertical integrations, it still require work from us. But we're working it.

Globe says BlackBerry seen trading above fair value

BlackBerry Ltd (C:BB)
Shares Issued 566,994,978
Last Close 9/23/2021 $13.44
Friday September 24 2021 - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Sept. 24, edition that BlackBerry remains an "underperformer" for CIBC analyst Todd Coupland, who recommends investors wait for a more opportune time to buy. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Coupland shaved his share target by a buck to $10 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $8.29. BlackBerry recently posted second quarter result that exceeded Mr. Coupland's expectations, but not enough to warrant an upgrade. Mr. Coupland says in a note: "While Q2 appears to be the low quarter for this year, the expected recovery during the second half of F2022 is expected to be modest in QNX due to automotive semiconductor shortages and Spark experiencing an extended sale cycle. One important offset is the patent portfolio sale is now expected to be announced by November. Management indicated that negotiations had progressed to a point where a definitive agreement was highly likely. Despite that, we believe the recent rise in Blackberry's share price due to interest from Reddit users has pushed it past its fair value given muted growth prospects." The Globe reported on June 29 that Mr. Coupland said do not buy BlackBerry, which was then worth $12.24.

BlackBerry and Deloitte Join Forces to Secure IoT Software Supply Chains

Equipment Manufacturers will gain actionable intelligence to address security vulnerabilities in their software supply chains

PR Newswire

WATERLOO, Canada, Oct. 7, 2021

WATERLOO, Canada, Oct. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB) and Deloitte today announced the two organizations are teaming up to help OEMs and those building mission-critical applications secure their software supply chains.

As part of the agreement, Deloitte will leverage BlackBerry's flagship software composition analysis tool, BlackBerry® Jarvis™ to provide Open-source Software (OSS), Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) and Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) analysis on behalf of their clients across the medical, automotive and aerospace industries, empowering them to keep software safe and secure based on the actionable intelligence the platform provides.

A G7 Transportation Ministry has selected the companies' joint software and services offering to ensure the security of its traffic management and broader transportation infrastructure.

"We're thrilled to partner with Deloitte to help OEMs and those responsible for critical infrastructure better understand their embedded systems security challenges with a view to ensuring their end products are both secure and updated with the most recent security patches," said Adam Boulton, Chief Technology Officer, BlackBerry Technology Solutions. "Just as a health-conscious grocery shopper can benefit from scrutinizing nutrition labels on food packages, an embedded software developer can gain a whole host of insights by leveraging tools and expertise that enable them to detect issues in their supply chain that may have real implications for intellectual property disputes, security risks and overall quality."

Designed to address the increasing complexity and growing cybersecurity threats among multi-tiered software supply chains, BlackBerry Jarvis empowers OEMs to inspect the provenance of their code and every single software asset that comes into their overall supply chains to ensure their products are both secure and updated with the most recent security patches.

BlackBerry Jarvis addresses the need to identify and remediate vulnerabilities by identifying them and then providing deep actionable insights in minutes – something that would otherwise involve manual scanning that would take large numbers of experts and an impractical amount of time.

"Deloitte is very excited to partner with BlackBerry. Our already productive relationship will focus on key mobility and other market opportunities. We're confident that BlackBerry's deep security heritage and expertise complimented by Deloitte's world leading Risk Advisory teams will create a compelling value proposition for new and existing clients," said Stephen Meagher, Director of IOT for Risk Advisory, Deloitte.
