In other words, you can't gorge yourself with handfuls of peanuts so fast.<g> |

To: mph who wrote (63485) | 9/26/2002 10:51:26 AM | From: Original Mad Dog | | | I have gone into many a baseball game, bought the humongous bag of peanuts that the vendors outside the ballpark sell for a couple of dollars, and spent the entire game (or doubleheader) eating peanuts, so many that it became difficult to stand for the seventh inning stretch.
Thank god peanuts are a vegetable or plant product or some such thing. <g> |

Now do the math as to how many MORE peanuts you would have consumed had they been unshelled. The number is staggering.<g> |

To: mph who wrote (63487) | 9/26/2002 11:00:45 AM | From: Original Mad Dog | | | I have a question.
Why do those charts always talk about an ounce of food?
Who eats an ounce of anything?
The listings should be in one pound and five pound increments.
For example:
Peanuts
One lb. 2,560 calories 5 lbs. 12,800 calories
M&M's
One lb. 2,272 calories 5 lbs. 11,360 calories
That would be more directly useful to everyday living, if you ask me. |

To: Original Mad Dog who wrote (63488) | 9/26/2002 11:05:13 AM | From: mph | | | You're absolutely correct.
I can understand why serving sizes are so small on pre-packaged food (since they don't want to scare the consumer as to how fattening the food really is when eaten in normal proportions.)
However, calorie charts are designed for the opposite purpose---to scare you into NOT eating so much. |

To: mph who wrote (63487) | 9/26/2002 1:11:18 PM | From: Shoot1st | | | I'm switching to dehydrated lentil soup for snacks from now on.
I just hope they don't cause too much gastric upset....
lentils can do that, you know....that's why I've avoided them for so long.
