HAHAHA... that's very funny... I've been there twice now and found it a fantastic place, full of passion and color, vibrant and alive... albeit very poor. I hope to get back there and re-connect with some old friends soon.

this is not to say that it can not be a dangerous place, but then you can pay dearly for stupid mistakes in America's cities just as quickly as you would in Port au Prince.

going to have to disagree with you about the comparison
with Port au Price to american cities all I can say man that
if you get hurt you are on your own.I have served in the
region and would not go there without a hummer and tactical support
but that is just me then again I would not go to miami without
out the same support a lot of drug operations its just not a
vacation place man.

Guess it all depends on your purpose for being there. If I were still in the 82nd, I would probably feel the same way, in fact I did have to report on tactical specifics gleaned from my first trip. You are right of course that it's not the sort of place you go by accident. Still, any time you travel internationally, are you not on your own?
