C.K.--Have you been following the recent run up in EDIG stock? More importantly, have you been following the discussion here on SI? --https://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=13369
I've been following for almost a week now & it seems to be a knowledgeable group of people w/ a minimum amount of hype & cheer leading, esp for a BB type stock, and what I think is a gold mine of background info, links and viewpoints.

I haven't been following it. I own one OTC stock and that one will be the last.

I'll check into the discussion.

Don't know if you saw this posted on the EDIG thread:
Very Solid Audio
by David Weekly
sponsored by Audio Explosion

The Japan-based Kobe Steel has apparently entered into a licensing
agreement with NTT (Nippon Telephone & Telegraph, basically Japan's AT&T) for rights to use the TwinVQ codec in a portable digital audio player called "SolidAudio." TwinVQ, also known by its file extension .VQF, was developed separately from MP3 technology. This is in contrast to AAC, which extends MP3 technology. While AAC has a small technical edge over TwinVQ, both sound distinctively better than MP3 at equivalent bitrates. david.weekly.org

I completely disagree with this guys opinion:

zdnet.com

RIO player with upgraded memory will hold 16 CD quality songs. You can add or delete songs in seconds. It doesn't take 10 min to encode a MP3, try a minute or two. Battery lasts 12 hours. Okay, how long will 1 AA battery last running a portable CD player? The RIO is 1/3rd the size of a portable CD player. No moving parts.

Downloading a MP3 file (legal one) say 3.5 MB takes about 40 seconds on a cable modem connection.

Diamond can see the future, re: RIO.

Japan seems to have all the new toys and gadgets well before we ever see them on the shelves.

Look at HDTV for example.

The format is the key, there has to be one standard format that the recording ind accepts. I highly doubt it will be MP3, so which one? Don't know, maybe it's still on the drawing board or in someones mind, but there will be one soon.

Great article.

My time tables may be off a bit, it may happen sooner than we think. Still allot of things to set in place before a standard is accepted by all. If there is one standard.

planet-raven.demon.nl
mp3.com
In a local seattle computer rag they mention mp4 as the one that will be used by major music companies. I am away from home, when i get back will transcribe some of the article.
It may or may not be the same as the one you posted earlier
