Good to see they're finally putting it together before the end of the season...
I think it was obvious going in this season that there was potential but still going to be "next year" to realize it.
The Alabama game is still a thing unto itself...
If you like basketball, at all... the Auburn - Houston game worth watching. Announcers during the game... before the outcome determined... were saying its one of the best games they'd ever seen... ever... top 5 of all time, etc.
I also have missed BBall this week... just looked: Nov 25, 26, 27 beat #5 Iowa State, #12 North Carolina, and Memphis to win the Maui Invitational. Next up is Duke...
So, a winning holiday weekend of catching up, for me... !!! Hopefully ride the momentum and tack one more on that, too...
Happy Thanksgiving. |

"SEC, SEC, SEC"... we are the best...
And then, the NCAA is made superfluous... and maybe we could fix a few things ?
Right now, the former imbalance hurting students has tipped too far the other way... so the schools are being exploited, as students have NIL rights while using the schools name and image, but the schools have no ability to write a binding contract.
I can't say the system isn't working better for the kids... or for the top end of the best schools... but it certainly disadvantages smaller schools... and totally destroys the concept of... the ideal of... a student athlete... with it still being mostly about the value of education. But, then, the schools have been hard at work devaluing that, all by themselves, without any help from the athletes ? |

From: Thomas M. | 12/10/2024 12:29:06 PM | | | | Per sources, I’m told Bill Belichick’s negotiations with North Carolina include a guarantee that Stephen Belichick will be named the school’s head coach in waiting. UNC is open to that guarantee. Discussions are not a bid to gain leverage for NFL offers and BB is open to the move
Any potential staff would include Matt Patricia, Ben McDaniels (Texans passing game coordinator and brother of Josh McDaniels) as well as a sitting college GM who would handle general operations — NIL, recruiting, etc.
Belichick’s preference, from what I’m told, remains a return to the NFL. But the landscape is already considered thin based on feedback for the league. Moving to college with a guarantee for his son will overrule waiting on the NFL carousel
Some added context: Steve Belichick has already been approached about other college head coaching roles. He has taken Washington's defense to 28th in S&P+ this season after they finished 50th last year
Update: Belichick has agreed to become the next UNC coach. Belichick handed the school a 400 page “organizational bible” with structure, payment plans, staffing choices etc. decisions on whether to commit with UNC. He is expected to know their decision within 24 hours

Belichick’s bible would require historic levels of investment from the school. Includes salary minimums position by position and a willingness to hire two staffs: a coaching staff run by Belichick; a recruitment staff run by a sitting college GM — who would require a buyout
Belichick has a college and pro version of his updated manual and has shared it with other schools and NFL teams. But he drafted a new one specific to UNC that touched on every aspect of the program and school. Will need sign off from AD, chancellor, trustees and boosters
There has already been pushback from the group of 13 trustees, with input from wider faculty. The investment would overhaul the school’s approach to football; Belichick unsure if the school will meet the demands and is unwilling to negotiate

Andy Reid being Exhibit A. KC was desperate and smart and made the right move. Jerry Jones isn't smart. |
