Dealing with Malware: Recommended Site and Its Comprehensive Guide to Malware Removal ...

Malware Tips Removal Guide: malwaretips.com

Scion: In response to Druss's stated problem last week you posted a link to a very good article on removing the rogue 'Reimage PC Repair Online' using (potentially) a combination of Uninstall (Windows or Revo), AdwCleaner, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free, and HitmanPro (free trial) from Stelian Pilici's excellent independent free 'Malware Tips' blogsite supported by donations.

It is one of the beat sites available for dealing with malware and is worth a 'favorites' bookmark:

While step 1 or 'Reinage' removal advises using Windows inefficient Windows' Control Panel's or Settings's uninstall tool, the concluding remark in step 1 of the removal is worth noting ...

The concluding remark also is worth noting ...

The second recommended favorites bookmark on the general subject of malware removal is Stelian Pilici's Malware Removal Guide ...

Today, after leaving my desktop machine to run a brief errand for about 30 minutes it totally froze up. Then again sometime later, another absence from the machine for about the same time it did the same thing

The monitors were both black, as usual. Moving the mouse restored the images but the machine would NOT respond to anything I'd click on.

Resorting to a complete shut down I got a box in the middle of the screen telling me "A Breakpoint has been reached (.....numbers here) occurred in the application at location (.... more numbers...)

I can't find anything on YouTube about this. It's never happened before. Perhaps it ties in with the other unusual behavior I've had in recent days on this machine? Is this a sign of bad things to come?

If you meant to do that search here on SI, that turned up absolutely nothing. Other than my own and your mention, the only other reference to "breakpoint" had to do with Chuck Colson and the radio program he founded.

I tried the search with Google and didn't fare much better. Malwarebytes and other searches don't turn up anything suspicious. I'm starting to wonder if it may be signs of something mechanical (dread!!!)

Need some help folks......just purchased a 22 inch hp monitor to use with my old Dell 4300 desk top. Now I find that the Dell does not have a HDMI port which the new monitor requires.... Question is....is there a USB to HDMI converter on the market or is there another way to make the the PC to Monitor connection...

Many thanks in advance....

I do a backup of my data files every month or two, and backup my important files weekly, both are done to external hard drives.

I do a complete system backup every 3 - 4 months. also to an external USB hard drive.

I have 3 external hard drives that I keep these backups on, just in case one of the backup hard drives fail.

Can't be too careful.

B.K.

Ken, I meant do the search with your search engine. I use Bing but google also finds stuff
"A Breakpoint has been reached". When this message pops up is a browser open, is a program running?
I myself know nothing about this, but some saw the problem when chrome was open, others when playing a game...

To All:
I have been battling some malware on my computer. I put on MalwareBytes and it indicates I still have some embedded in my Firefox browser. Every time I clicked on a line it sent up a warning saying it was denying access to an outbound malware. I was not able to find it. While MalwareBytes seemed to be suppressing it, I don't care to coexist with it. So I put up Chrome and it is not infected.
However I prefer Firefox. But if I install Firefox I get an instant download complete with my old sites and I would presume with the malware. Is there a way to get a new and clean download from Mozilla?
Further if I can't, how do I get my homepage to show with Chrome?
Thanks to everyone for the help I have received.
Druss

Druss, in chrome click the triple bar right top>settings>on startup to set up the home page.

delete Firefox using Revo [save your bookmarks as a html file first]
download FF mozilla.org
