VMware Guide: Run Mac OS X on Windows 10

This blog is about the VMware Guide: Run Mac OS X on Windows 10. I will try my best so that you understand this guide very well. I hope you all like this blog VMware Guide: Run Mac OS X on Windows 10. If your answer is yes then please do share.

The VMware Guide: Run Mac OS X on Windows 10VMware Unlocker is a program that allows you to install Mac OS X on any computer that uses VMWare or VirtualBox to create a Hackintosh. If you want to play with Mac OS X but don’t want to pay a premium for the hardware, this is the way to go. You can install and use Mac OS X on many Intel computers and experiment as you like. This tutorial will walk you through how to run Mac OS X on Windows 10 with VMware Unlocker.

A Hackintosh is the popular term for installing Mac OS X on a non-Apple device such as a normal PC. The operating system will work much the same as on an Apple but in a virtual machine. As long as you follow these instructions exactly, you shouldn’t notice any difference in usability and utility between a real Mac and a Hackintosh.

You will need an Intel computer running Windows 10. You will need virtualization enabled in your UEFI / BIOS, a copy of VMware Unlocker, 7-Zip, and Mac OS X for VMware. There are many sources of Mac OS X and I only link one. If you want to use a different one, as long as it is compatible with VMware and Hackintosh configurations, you’re fine. This version of Mac OS X is Yosemite and comes with VMware OS X files for use with VMware Unlocker.

back to menu ?Set everything upIf you have an Intel PC and downloaded the above files, we can get started. Mac OS X’s download is around 6GB so if you haven’t gotten it already, you might want to start the download ahead of time.

Once you’re ready, it’s time to get started.

Restart your computer and load it into UEFI / BIOS. Press Delete when your keyboard turns on to access it.Navigate to where virtualization is in your BIOS and enable it. Different manufacturers put it in different places, so explore to find yours.Boot into Windows once activated.Install VMware Workstation from here.Install 7-Zip or another free archive tool if you don’t already have it.Download VMware Unlocker, extract it somewhere and install it. It will fix VMware Workstation in order to load Mac OS X.Open your Mac OS X folder and run both win-install.cmd and win-update-tools.cmd as administrator.Open VMware Workstation and select Open Virtual Machine.Select the Mac OS X VMX file you downloaded and open it.Select Change virtual machine settings in VMware Workstation.Select Options and Version and set it to Mac OS X 10.7.Change any other options that suit you like memory, disk space, etc.Select Power and Start Up Guest when you’re ready.Follow the Mac OS X installation wizard that will appear. It takes a few minutes but it’s fine.Return to VMware Workstation and select Settings.Navigate to the CD / DVD and navigate to the darwin.iso file from the Mac OS X folder you downloaded.Check the box next to Connected at the top.Switch back to Mac OS X and you should see a pop-up window for VMware Tools. If you don’t, restart the VM.Install VMware Tools when prompted and restart again.Return to VMware Workstation and select Settings.Navigate to the CD / DVD and locate the BeamOff.iso file from the Mac OS X folder. In Mac OS X, go to System Preferences and Users & Groups.Select your account, then the connection items.Select the small “+” icon on the left and select BeamOff.Restart if prompted.

Your Hackintosh should now be fully functional. Depending on the file downloaded as a Mac OS X source, you may be running Yosemite or El Capitan. If this article has been published for a while, it may be something else entirely. If OS X prompts you for updates, it’s safe to do so. When I installed Mac OS X using this method, I was prompted to upgrade to El Capitan. It took a little while but it installed and worked without any issues.

BeamOff is optional and primarily works to improve website performance. If you’re using a high-end PC, you might not need to install it, but if you notice any slowdowns in your Hackintosh’s performance, install it and see if that makes a difference.

This method is not entirely legal, so you should use your own judgment as to whether or not you want to create your own Hackintosh. Bollyinsidedoes not recommend or condone it, but the knowledge is free for everyone and if you want to do it you might as well do it.

That’s all there is to run Mac OS X on Windows 10 with VMware Unlocker. Have you tried it? Have you had any problems? Tell us about your experience below.

How to Install a Software Program From an ISO File

How you install a program from an ISO image will vary depending on which version of Windows you are using. Here’s how to install a program in Windows 10, 8.1, and 7.

An ISO file, also known as an ISO image, is a file that contains all the installation files for a single program. Certain software programs, especially large ones, are sometimes made available as ISO files, including Microsoft Office and the Windows operating system. How you install an application from its ISO file will depend on the version of Windows you’re running.

In Windows 10 or 8.1, you can mount the ISO file as a virtual drive and install the software from there. If you’re still running Windows 7 ( you shouldn't be), you will need to download a utility that can mount the ISO file for you. You can also burn the ISO file to a disc or copy it to a USB drive and install it from the CD or drive. If you download Windows 10 as an ISO file, you will need to burn it to a bootable DVD or copy it to a bootable USB drive to install it on your target computer. Here is how to install an ISO image in Windows.

Mount the ISO File in Windows 10 or 8.1Download the ISO file, then open File Explorer and right-click on the file. From the pop-up menu, select the Mount command.

Sometimes a third-party program can disable the built-in Mount command so it doesn’t appear in the menu. If so, you’ll need to reset your default program to bring the command back. In Windows 10, go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click the Set defaults by app link. From the list of apps, click the one for Windows Disc Image Burner and click Manage.

This 7-screen laptop might just be the most ridiculous invention ever

creativebloq.com

Expanscape's recently revealed Aurora 7 prototype features not one, not two, not three (we'll skip forward a bit), but seven displays. Each screen folds out from an enormous black box to create possibly the most ridiculous, not to mention delicate-looking, gadget we've ever seen. We have a feeling it would be easier to use one of our best ultra-wide monitors on your lap (don't try that, by the way).

MBR vs GPT: Which One Is Better for You?

On this page, you will learn the difference in MBR vs. GPT, and make a wise choice when initializing a hard disk. Besides, we will teach you how to make a safe conversion between MBR and GPT without losing data.

Need to make a choice between MBR and GPT

MBR vs GPT: main difference between them

How to make a conversion between MBR and GPT in Windows?

Conclusion

Need to make a choice between MBR and GPTYou might be asked to choose MBR or GPT when you initialize a disk for the first time in Windows. Many computer users do not know which one to choose since Windows does not provide extra useful information about them. But don’t worry. Today, we will offer an elaborate introduction of MBR vs GPT to help you make a wise final choice.

GPT is the abbreviation of GUID Partition Table, which is a standard for the layout of the partition table on a physical hard disk, using globally unique identifiers (GUID). MBR is another kind of partition table formats. It is short for master boot record. Comparatively, the MBR is older than the GPT. But the new is not always better than the old and there are still many users who choose the MBR technology. GPT disks have advantages of partition size, number of partitions, and resilience. If a computer that uses UEFI, it will only support GPT. So when you upgrade your computer, it may be necessary to convert MBR to GPT at first.

MBR vs GPT: main difference between themA MBR disk can be basic or dynamic, just like an GPT disk can be basic or dynamic. Compared with MBR disk, a GPT disk performs better in the following aspects:

GPT supports disks larger than 2 TB in size while MBR cannot.

The GPT disk partitioning style supports volumes up to 18 exabytes in size and up to 128 partitions per disk while the MBR disk partitioning style supports volumes up to 2 terabytes in size and up to 4 primary partitions per disk (or three primary partitions, one extended partition, and unlimited logical drives).

GPT disk provides greater reliability due to replication and cyclical redundancy check (CRC) protection of the partition table. Unlike MBR partitioned disks, data critical to platform operation is located in partitions instead of unpartitioned or hidden sectors.

GPT partitioned disks have redundant primary and backup partition tables for improved partition data structure integrity.

For more information about the differences between GPT disk and MBR disk, please go to: The Differences betwwen MBR and GPT.

Usually, MBR and BIOS (MBR + BIOS), and GPT and UEFI (GPT + UEFI) go hand in hand. This is compulsory for some operating systems (eg. Windows), while optional for others (eg. Linux). When it comes to converting a system disk to GPT disk, make sure that your computer’s motherboard supports UEFI boot mode.

How to make a conversion between MBR and GPT in Windows? After learning information about MBR and GPT, you might need to make a conversion for the current partition style, from MBR to GPT, or GPT to MBR. Here in Windows, basically you have two ways to complete that, Windows built-in tools and third-party software.

1. Convert to GPT/MBR disk via Windows built-in utilitiesWith Windows Disk Management and Diskpart tools, you’re allowed to convert an EMPTY hard disk to MBR or GPT with ease. That is to say, you need to delete all existing partitions in the first place. Therefore, back up important data to a safe place in advance and then follow the steps below. Here takes convert to GPT using Diskpart for example.

1. Press Windows key + R key simultaneously to lift Run box. Input “diskpart” and press Enter.

2. At DISKPART prompt, input following commands successively and each command follows a Enter pressing.

list disk

select disk n (where n is the disk number of target disk)

clean (this command will erase entire disk)

convert gpt (or convert mbr)

exit

Note: You may not convert system disk to GPT under Windows environment since the system partition cannot be deleted when Windows is running.

2. Convert to GPT or MBR without Losing Data (System Disk Included )Since the Windows native tools can only convert an empty disk to MBR and GPT, it is not an ideal for users who have stored lots of data on the target disk. Therefore, next I’d like to tell you a good way to convert MBR to GPT without data loss. That is using the third-paty software: AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional. The powerful hard drive manager allows you to convert between MBR and GPT on both system disk and data disk without deleting partitions in simple clicks. Here is a step-by-step guide.

In the first place, you can download AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional Edition Demo (only for simulation) from its office website. Install and run. Here I will take convert MBR to GPT for example.

Note: to avoid data loss caused by improper human operations and other unexpected issues (power failure...), it is better to back up everything you require.

Step 1. Right click the MBR disk that you want to convert to GPT and choose Convert to GPT Disk.

Step 2. You'll be asked that "are you sure to convert the selected disk from MBR to GPT disk?". Click OK.

Step 3. To commit operation, please click Apply.

Notes:
1. A removable disk is not allowed to converted into a GPT disk.
2. Converting system disk to GPT partition style requires 64-bit operating systems. Note that Windows XP 64bit can only use GPT disk for data storage.
3. After converting a system disk from MBR to GPT, or GPT to MBR, you have to change the boot mode from UEFI to BIOS, or Legacy BIOS to UEFI for a smooth boot.

When need to convert GPT to MBR disk? There are some situations need convert GPT to MBR. One is like the problem - “ the Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition Style” when people install Windows system. People can also convert GPT to MBR disk by the aid of AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional Edition.

Some FAQs You May ConcernIs Windows 10 GPT or MBR?

From the reliability and CRC protection mentioned before, it is suggested to use GPT partition style if all other conditions are qualified.

Should my SSD be MBR or GPT?

Usually, SSDs are used to install operating systems. All Windows operating systems can be installed on MBR disks yet some of them cannot be installed on GPT disk. Windows 8 and higher operating systems are required as shown in the first figure.

Can UEFI boot MBR?

Yes. UEFI supports the traditional master boot record (MBR) of hard drive partition, but you may not use Legacy boot GPT on the contrary.

ConclusionNow, you should get an overall understanding of MBR VS. GPT and know how to convert MBR to GPT, or GPT to MBR via different methods. All in all, with the AOMEI Partition Assistant software, you can easily and safely make a conversion between MBR and GPT. It is a great partition converter, not only between MBR and GPT, but also FAT and NTFS, primary partition and logic partition. It can even rebuild MBR when the master boot record is corrupted and causes boot failure.
