The Vlaams Blok is now Flanders' second largest party, following the regional/European polls of June 13, 2004... Strangely enough, however, I couldn't dig out articles/reports on that topic in English --so you'll have to ask some Afrikaans friend of yours to translate the following:
Vlaams Blok tweede partij van Vlaanderen
Uitgegeven: 13 juni 2004 19:11 Laatst gewijzigd: 13 juni 2004 22:59

Strangely enough, there are quite a few people here who believe the ultimate destiny of South Africa is to be "Asian". With more or less 10% of the total indigenous population already infected with HIV/AIDS, and that probably means 20% of those in their reproductive years, the outlook must be for a decimation of the "local" people. Already, the Zulus, once the largest and most powerful local population group, have seen their numbers reduced by hundreds of thousands from about 6 million. In this group, HIV/AIDS is estimated at 30%.
And, as we know, wherever a space exists on this planet where people can go, the Chinese, or the Indians, will find it. And they have already found SA, I can assure you. |

In such a way, they once said prayers for Hitler during the Nazi occupation. "By the time the Vlaams Blok throws out all the Arabs then we'll change party, we'll see," is their current attitude, he suggests.
What a dilemma these people find themselves in. Having to side with the descendants of the very ones (intellectually, anyway) who were responsible for exterminating their forefathers. Just because the bond between them is their common hate of the Muslim. How they must secretly hate themselves for their expediency.
In fact, the situation exposes an enormous contradiction. As I understand it, it was always the Jewish people who were the greatest proponents of democracy and liberalism. Then we find, first, the black Americans and, now, the Muslims taking advantage of democracy and liberalism to advance themselves in Western societies. Suddenly the Jews find themselves "hoist on their own petard" -- the very political arrangement they helped to create to suite their own interests suddenly the means to their own disadvantage.
So now we have Jewish religious fundamentalists and non-Jewish, and indeed anti-Jewish, rightwingers as common bedfellows. Each with a different agenda although a common hatred. What irony! The jackal tries to make friends with the wolf to keep the fox at bay!
Methinks the jackal is in trouble wherever he tries to hide, despite all the mischief he may make in order to get the wolf to fight the fox, because both see what he is trying to do and the mischief he is trying to make. |

>>Flemish block-system second party of Flanders Spent: 13 June 2004 19.11 last modified: 13 June 2004 22.59 BRUSSELS - the extreemrechtse Flemish block-system are at present the second party in Flanders. That becomes clear from a forecast of the Flemish public broadcasting VRT after the region elections of Sunday. The block-system would end up on 24 per cent of the votes. The Flemish Christian democrats end winner would be of the elections with 27 per cent. The purple government parties suffer heavy losses. The liberal VLD of premier Verhofstadt, who can come at national level also in the problems, ends up on 20 per cent. The Socialists (SP. a) of Stevaert would fall unexpectedly to the fourth place with 19.5 percent. Greenness obtains, however, the molar threshold of 5 per cent with a predicted result of 7.5 percent. For the shaping of a Flemish regional government three parties would be necessary the Flemish love block-system the power. The Croo say to the liberal Belgian Chairman of the House of Parliament that the strong loss of its party with wide 5 percent point is the consequence of accepting the migrant voting right at municipality Council elections and the heavy mutual fight about this within the VLD. Also the block-system head pieces say their thank victory to have to the fight about this within the VLD. Vanhecke According to block-system President Vanhecke further the condemnation recent of its party because of racism is by the court of Ghent a sign "dat now almost a million vlamingen this lack of free opinion expression no longer accepteren''. Vanhecke call the Christian democrats with him at Flemish level a government to form. Vanhecke says that also at national level the purple government can Verhofstadt-II remain not to and question for new parliamentary congressional elections. The block-system is in Mechelen with 31.9 percent of the votes with distance the largest party. In ball work Antwerp the party seems grow also further. The result of the municipality Antwerp himself has been not yet confessed. However, the block-system goes ahead in the region Antwerp with 3.8 percent point. The Socialists remain in the Antwerp region stable on 24.3 percent. The liberalen sink back in Antwerp up to zo'n 15 per cent. French-speaking Belgium In French-speaking Belgium the status quo seems exist to continue, where the Socialists with wide 30 percents remain the largest party and the liberalen stagnate around the 24 percents. The Christian democrats go slightly ahead around 17 per cent. The French-speaking person greenness would go ahead in comparison with the dramatically gone parliamentary congressional elections of previous year considerably on up to 16 per cent. French-speaking extreemrechts would not qualify with 4.4 percent for regional seats. In the district Brussels the situation is still unclear. If the Flemish block-system obtains there more than half of the seventeen seats in the region parliament, reserved for vlamingen, can the party the functioning of the district and the national government block. It does not seem however that the block-system in Brussels which obtains majority. The Flemish Socialists would do it in Brussels according to forecasts correctly remarkable well. Abu Jahjah The Moslem democratic party (MDP) of also in the Netherlands confessed Dyab Abou JahJah at the Belgian region elections a very thin result has achieved. The party gained in the province Antwerp, the only region where she took part, a score of 0.26 per cent oftewel wide 1,600 votes. And it's the same story with jobs.
detnews.com
>> Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan concurs. He testified before the Senate Banking Committee on Feb. 12 that “the payroll series is the more accurate number.”
The payroll survey is better because it is much larger, it is checked annually against unemployment insurance tax records (in contrast to every 10 years for the household survey) and it is less likely to be subject to large revisions or misreporting. The payroll survey shows that employment has fallen by 718,000 since the recovery began. Michigan alone lost 2.7 percent of its jobs in this “recovery.”
The claim that employment is at a record high is cherry-picking at its most blatant, an attempt to find improvements that are simply not there. Yes, the number of working people has grown, but population has grown faster. In fact, employment has grown only half as fast as what’s needed just to keep even with population growth.
Even Wall Street economists at J.P Morgan agree that the unemployment rate “misrepresents the underlying state of the job market.” The percentage of working-age people in the labor market — that is, those who are working or looking for work — has dropped to its lowest rate in over 15 years. Contrary to conventional wisdom, J.P. Morgan economists claim that “the latest data indicate that more men than women have been pulling out of the labor force.” Goldman Sachs paints an even bleaker picture of today’s slack labor market, noting that if the same proportion of people were in the labor market today as there were seeking work in March 2001, the unemployment rate would be 7.4 percent.
A close look at the payroll and household surveys shows very few cherries to pick. Since both tell political bad news, we should get back to good economics. Instead of trying to convince the public that bad news is really good news, the administration should be focusing on the problem at hand: an economy that isn’t generating enough jobs. << |

A gaunt-looking diamond trader who occasionally rests a hand on his yarmulke, he explains: "There was always a sleeping anti-Semitism, but the situation in the Middle East is being exported here and a lot of Arab youngsters are now openly anti-Semitic.
"...but the situation in the Middle East is being exported [in Europe]"... Indeed, but tell me, WHO EXPORTED HER JEWISH PROBLEM TO THE MIDEAST IN THE FIRST PLACE????
Even before Nazi atrocities against Jews in the 1940s, a Jewish homeland was already devised in 1919, in the wake of WWI and the breakup of the Ottoman Empire (Balfour)... European powers settled their "Jewish problem" at the expense of native Palestinians in 1948... and today they shamelessly complain that the "Israeli conflict" is being re-exported back to them?!? |

As I explain in the above links, Europe and the US have entered a period similar to the 1960s --except they have switched places... The Martin Luther Kings and Malcom Xs were somehow the domestic counterparts of the Ben Bellas and Lumumbas... Malcom X was an American Lumumba (the assassinated Congolese independentist).
Today, it's Europe that faces the challenge of "domestic decolonization" while the US has recklessly thrown itself in the throes of overseas colonialism... The Jews however haven't changed much: they stick by the bully... Back in 1954-1962, most Algerian Jews were "Algérie Française" and opposed Algerian independence and, of course, Israel too was eager to help the French government quench the FLN rebellion... Somehow, the Iraq war is an "American Suez". |

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it people will eventually come to believe it."
-- Joseph Goebbels
Christian political extremists in the US (which I shall henceforth refer to as "the Religious Right") are only a small minority of the population, but they are well-organized and wield political power far beyond their numbers. They have their own tv stations and they run the Republican party, yet they claim to be victims of "religious persecution". They skillfully manipulate public opinion through letter writing campaigns, to make their extremist views look mainstream. They lie, but they lie so loud and so consistently and so pervasively that many people think they are speaking the truth. When they make up a new untruth, they inject it into their own media machine, at which time it becomes repeated over and over on far-right radio stations across the country, then picked up by the conservative punditocracy on the cable news channels, then by the "liberal" mass media as a whole. Sometimes, the lie ends up being proclaimed as truth on the floor of congress. It is the strategy of the big lie: repeat a deliberate untruth as often as you can, and eventually, it will become a fact in the public consciousness. One of the biggest lies of the right, the one lie that serves all others, is the endlessly repeated assertion that the conservative mass media are liberal. In response to that charge, the mass media go to great lengths to include far-right viewpoints in their coverage, making the Garry Falwells and the Jerry Bauers regular guests on their political shows, while truly liberal viewpoints are always absent. When was the last time you saw Gore Vidal as a guest commentator on The Capital Gang? Or Noan Chomsky?
Christian political extremists have many different organizations, but only one agenda. That agenda is to establish a christian fundamentalist theocracy in the United States. But you will not hear Gary Bauer or Pat Robertson admit to that on CNN. When they are on national television, Religious Right leaders exercise moderation and restraint. They pledge their "love" for the people they hate (=everyone who doesn't share their views), and their deep concern for this nation, and, invariably, "our" children (as if liberals did not have children). They monopolize the word "family", acting as if only extreme-right, fundamentalist christians can be good parents. They have the impudence to claim that they represent "Judeo-Christian" values, but they do not even represent mainstream christianity. They claim the exclusive monopoly on morality - their own very special brand of "morality". They glorify the "golden 50's", a time when the US were supposedly a "moral" nation.
But the truth is that the 1950s were a deeply immoral time. Institutionalized racism, discrimination of women and gays, rampant abuse of wiretapping powers by the FBI and witchhunts against political dissidents were only some of the hallmarks of that "moral" time. Those social ills were finally adressed in the 1960s. But for those who define morality not by "justice and equality for all", but by what is going on in our bedrooms, the 60's mark the begining of the "moral decay" of our nation. According to Pat Robertson, the Kennedy assassination, the Vietnam War, inflation, the oil crisis, Watergate, the Iran hostage crisis, the attempted Reagan assassination, the national debt, drug use and the high divorce rates are directly related to the 60's decisions of the Supreme Court to end religious coercion in public schools.
These are the kinds message they have hammered into the minds of the people for two decades, and it is working. An increasing segment of the population is buying into the "moral decay" lie and supports legislation and constitutional amendments that would forever take away the civil liberties that we take for granted. Never mind that many of the social problems that fuel such sentiments, such as youth violence and crime, are exacerbated or even created by right-wing obstructionist policies, designed by Religious Right leaders and their political minions to make sure their own predictions of gloom and doom come true. First block any meaningful reform in the legislatures, than blame the resulting problems on "lack of moral values". The Religious Right's campaign against public education is just one example of that destructive, cynical strategy. In implementing that strategy, christian extremists know no shame. They aggressively blamed liberal values (= lack of values) for the Columbine massacre, as if Littleton, CO wasn't an affluent, conservative community with a disproportionately high number of evangelical christians! It happened right in James Dobson's back yard, but they have the impudence to blame liberals for it.
Religious Right leaders make no secret of their utter contempt for the constitution and the freedoms it represents. When Phyllis Schlafly makes her hysterical pleas for "no more Clinton judges", what else is she but saying that the US constitution (which gives the president the right to appoint judges) has no meaning to her? What else is Pat Robertson but an enemy of the constitution when he calls for the impeachment of every judge who disagree with his agenda? What could be more unconstitutional than Gary Bauer's presidential campaign promise to permit state facilities to post the ten commandments? [snip]

Everyone decries the downward spiral of immorality in our society....can you blame this on the religious right or maybe the immoral left?
Laws throughout the world have changed and evolved from what used to be a distinctly "Christian" emphasis to where we are today. When I was a child, almost all stores were closed on Sunday, by law. Homosexuality was illegal, and today it is afforded special protection under liberal laws.
All I am pointing out is that to whine about the religious right is to close your eyes to reality. The left dominates through liberal laws and the movie industry. That is where the real influence lies, and these liberal attitudes are exported throughout the world. |
