Kanakaris Issues Progress Report, Adds Ken Scruggs to Sales Team
MALIBU, Calif., July 6 /PR Newswire/ -- Kanakaris Communications, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: KANA - news) has issued a progress report and has named Ken Scruggs as an independent sales representative for the Desience OPCON Module System.

''We are well positioned in the online content delivery and the ergonomic command center areas, with a total integration of operations between these two areas,'' stated CEO Alex Kanakaris. ''Our concentration is on rapidly expanding the site NetBooks.com, which enables 100% digital downloading of books, and expanding the sales and marketing for the proprietary Desience OPCON Module System which encloses high-end computer operations,'' he added.

Kanakaris Communications announced its current participation for NetBooks at the National Speakers Association Conference in Philadelphia. Kanakaris also announced the addition of Ken Scruggs as an independent sales representative for the Desience OPCON Module System. Mr. Scruggs has twenty years experience in sales to the Data Processing/IS area of business concentrating on the entire southeast Untied States. He formed his own sales organization in Florida in 1997. He has sold to both commercial data centers as well as various levels of government.

Kanakaris indicated the following corporate progress within the past 16 months:

Incorporation of Kanakaris InternetWorks.
Merger/acquisition of the 25 year old Desience corporation, with a GSA government contract and a client list of both government agencies and Fortune 500 companies.
Merger/acquisition with the public entity Big Tex Enterprises, Inc.
The full integration of the Internet and Desience divisions in terms of offices, personnel, and management.
The launch of the proprietary web site NetBooks.com
The design of websites including AfricaGems.com
Kanakaris reported the following background on its NetBooks.com and OPCON Module System products:

NetBooks (TM):

As the Internet evolved, Company CEO Alex Kanakaris and instructor Michael Horn asked themselves the following question: What if there was a bookstore in 80 million homes worldwide, open 24 hours a day, where people could see and hear authors talk about their books, read or hear free excerpts, and then have the entire book delivered, in either a text or audio format, within minutes?

Working with Kanakaris management team members, they devised the technical parameters for a revolutionary website which would provide 100% digital delivery of books in both a text and audio format.

www.NetBooks.com has launched with exclusive online titles by Cass Warner (history of the Warner Bros.) and Laurie Jacobson (lives and deaths of Hollywood stars). Authors receive instantaneous worldwide exposure, an additional means of sales revenue, and retain their traditional print and other ancillary rights.

Talking NetBooks (TM), a totally digital product which delivers the popularity and user friendliness of Audio Books over the World Wide Web, is the next addition to the product line. Kanakaris will incorporate Microsoft NetShow technology into this groundbreaking eCommerce product which was announced at the Company's booth at the 1998 BEA Book Expo America at McCormik Place Convention Center in Chicago.

The Kanakaris/Desience OPCON Module System:

Working with IBM, the Company developed the Desience OPCON Module System(TM) for enclosing and organizing the equipment and cabling associated with data and network control centers. The first, large, OPCON installation occurred in 1985 with an installation of over 75 modules at du pont de Nemours in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Company has supplied OPCON modular systems to data and network centers worldwide. Kanakaris' Desience division assists the client in the planning process by making site visits, taking lists of requirements and then providing customers with blueprint floor plans of OPCON layouts, elevated views of suggested equipment layouts and perspective presentation drawings. Additionally, the Company oversees manufacturing of product and oversees the installation processes.

A GSA contract allows the Company to sell to the federal government and its agencies at preferred pricing. Federal government contracts today account for about 30% of OPCON Module System business.

The Company offers integrated electronic hardware in conjunction with the system. Large screen monitors, rear screen projections systems, video switching systems, digital clocks and related cabling and interfaces are provided to interface with the proprietary OPCON system. Kanakaris/Desience consults with clients to suggest the equipment best suited to work in conjunction with the customers existing equipment.

Recently, a new, ''low-contour'' Desience module was developed in conjunction with the U.S. Navy. In a contract of over $200,000. the products were installed in April of 1997 at Dahlgren, Va. The Company plans to refine the Desience product to increase it's desirability in the commercial market.

Future intentions include the ''universal workstation'' a concept currently under development. The universal work station will incorporate both electronics and the latest ergonomically designed work desk area. This will allow the customer to purchase a completely furnished work area in one step. The Company will support the station with full service contracts and customer support.

The President of the Desience division is Branch Lotspeich. Lotspeich comes to Kanakaris with a background in telecommunications and telephony. He designed television and photographic production facilities and computer installations. He built the first medical teaching facility designed to Western standards in the Peoples Republic of China. At the University of Cincinnati, he headed up the media center where he developed a television broadcasting system aired to 22 hospitals for the purpose of educating both medical personnel and patients.

I just talked to Prima and KeyTrade.com (see the press
release on May 11th).

I am insisting on getting details on the 504 placement both
from Prima and from KANA. Hopefully they will give us
the info soon. Prima says the info will be out sometime
this week.

From KeyTrade.com (1-888-KeyTrade): it is going to be
operational in August - will provide complete brokerage
services. They will have a home page within a couple of
weeks. KANA has strategic alliance with KeyTrade.com on
building and maintaining their web presence.

Please be sure to keep us informed! I'm an eager shareholder & KANA doesn't look so hot in my portfolio. I'm long & look forward to the bright & prosperous future. The past month hasn't been so hot, but I'm looking forward to the upside potential of KANA. I'm holding tight and waiting until we fly!

Alex Kanakaris (CEO of KANA) called me back today. He assured
me that things are shaping up good and as planned. They are planning
to make a press release by the end of the week addressing some
questions concerning the 504 placement which partially contributed
to the price drop in recent weeks. I believe it will include details
as to how much capital was raised, how many shares were issued,
and how they are using the capital, and so on.

Another important thing - they expect to become blue-skied by
next Monday in about 40 states (that allows brokers to recommend
the stock, etc) - which I think is going to help the stock quite
a bit.

He also mentioned to me that there are some acquisitions under
works which might happen sometime soon. I think all the 504
placement capital is going to be used for these acquisitions.

After talking to Alex@KANA, Prima, and KeyTrade.com, I am
more assured now. I will hold onto KANA for a long time.

Glad you got to talk with him and relayed the info back to the thread. Hope others will call him as well. The blue sky regulations will help but many brokers will not buy or recommend until the stock price is over $1 so the company needs to get to work.

I think it will reach $1 quite soon, especially if the company
has some good things coming up. There was no reason for the
stock to drop in the last few weeks like the way it did.

Let's hope we will reach $1 soon and much more on coming
weeks/months. I personally think $0.42/share will be history.
