jASON---

I'm in and out of oxford, shiva, humana, and the mirage lately.

I took a vicious hit from SHIVA today; although it was time for a drop.

I think the Barron's article about shorting Micron Tech scared a lot
of people today.

I'm still sitting tight for the expected Nortel announcement with Shiva,
just might be a buy-out.

By the way,

I detect a little jungle-dweller in you---
Know anyone named Van Smack?

Steve

gREETINGS s.Ohara...scarlet will look good on you...but shiva will look better in black...my name is not Jason Rome, I just hide behind my friends post! My initials are however J.R. ...my ma didn't like my real name which my father gave me. THUS, "Jr2 finishes off 90% of my LONG- WINDED posts> Not sure what you meant by "jungle.... I do adore R&B and black classical jazz and half of my 9 and 1 hoop team is black and beautiful---one of them I would like too adopt! In fact some say I'm white "only on the outside" but when it comes to hightech stocks I'm sometimes wrong!!! Hope I can chill with ya later! jr2

JR-- You never heard of Jim Rome's "Jungle" sports talk program?

The guy is really funny, and the show is sweeping the country.

Anyway, what do you think of Shiva today. Looks to me like everyone expected a major announcement today, like a buyout or an agreement with Nortel. Shiva with its own aquisition? Doesn't sound to me like a company that is actively shopping itself. Anyway, I got out early in the low 12's and coundn't resist the temptation to buy back in right before the close. Counting my money... ya know? Anyway, I think I'll pay for that day trade to the tune of 50-75 cents on the opening; although I'll look to average down and get back in at a lower price.

However, if that conference call has anything real good, maybe we'll see a bounce after its over.

Later,

Steve

Just like that movie "Hellraiser", "You called, I came..."

The last couple weeks haven't been the greatest after I hopped out of Shiva at 14.25. As soon as the news about NT was released and the stock seemed to stall at 14.31-.375 I ran!

I liked KM at 13 but opted for IFMX instead--- "great call"--IFMX has traded in a 3/8's pattern while KM has run up to 16.5.

Then I liked BSNX at 15, but went to Parker Drilling because of more volume. BSNX went to 18.25, Parker moved about .25 higher. That's cents not % by the way.

BSNX is BAsin Exploration (Oil Services) who's earnings rose 80% last reporting date of a couple weeks ago.

I kinda like QNTM (Quantum- Disk Drives) down from 27 to 19.5, but I'm looking for a earnings warning so that's on hold. QNTM is back to 21 with a high of 22 3/8 today.

Oxford health looks to be a good bet at the mid 16's, if it does a double bottom at 16 on Thurs or Fri, I think it will go to 18+ next week.

I think all the techs are do for a pull back so I think health care or biotech like VVUS is my next hunting ground.

I'm thinking that CPQ (Compaq) is a buy around 20---I'll wait til then, and by the way CIRCUS CIRCUS is rumored to be bought out by Hilton. The rumors have pushed CIR from 21 to 26.

SO, I think that OXHP is my next target if it does a double bottom, and I look for a couple more earnings warnings in the tech sector by Friday. National Semiconductor or QNTM might warn, if they do, wait for the pull back, then jump all over them.

That's my outlook---What's on your menu?

Steve

Hey, when I said yesterday that NSM might preannounce, I didn't know that their reporting date was so soon. Today they reported worse than expected earnings and fell to 20.25 down from 21.75.

The stock wasn't available for after hours trading. Doesn't look good for the chip sector tomorrow.

QNTM ran up today (1.5). Still don't know about a preannouncement.

My other pick, OXHP was up 9/16's. I bought in at 16.75, I'm playing for 18-19.

In regards to SHIVA, I'm neutral at this point. I'm really nervous about the techs. VLSI looks real interesting because they've already preannounced. But I think I'll wait to see if they hold their 52 week low.

Good luck,

Steve
