Mining throughout the world has made major technological changes during The twentieth century. Machinery, extraction methods, assays and even the definition of a viable project has changed due to the technological advances that have been made in mining of precious and base metals. Government regulations and their procedures are often changed. The ever changing world that we live and work in is much more dependent on the gathering of information than it ever has been before.
We would like to introduce you to what we feel is a quicker and more
efficient way of doing business. Government and corporate research have contributed vast new bodies of knowledge. Computer speed via the internet is opening access to information and databases nearly as fast as it is reported, and frequently, before it can be confirmed . Many of today's hands-on mining operations are dealing with huge quantities of in-ground material that requires engineering expertise for extraction due to its micro-fine particle texture, complex ore bodies, and the realities of environmental protection during processing.
The Mission of the Western Mining Association (WMA) is to serve the
mining community by providing an open forum for Association members to
address issues of common concern to the mining industry. The Intent of the WMA is to provide its members with a unified approach and a proactive, well reasoned voice for dealing with issues of importance to this industry. WMA Members are supported toward a position of consistent business advantage with a competitive edge wherever possible and the added power to take control of your business - FOR SUCCESS!
Membership is open to both corporations and individuals with interests in mining in the US and Canada.
Preliminary talks with several have given us reason to believe that this organization will be well received in the mining community. When we spoke with Dale Runyon about a name for this Association he was warmly supportive and generously offered to help in any way with the start-up. We appreciate his support at this early point in forming the WMA.
Although Founding WMA Members will be asked to identify their priority
preferences for WMA focus, some topics for consideration during this
initial year may be:
* Discounted fees for services/supplies as negotiated by WMA for its members through group buying power.
* Development of an Industry quote base for work performed between miners, assayers, laboratories, surveyors of various types, drillers, equipment manufacturers.
* Information/Resource location service for current data requested by WMA members.
* Savings on Members' time and money by maintaining watchdog
records of adequate/inadequate service delivery from providers to the mining industry as reported in writing by WMA Members.
A quarterly WMA Newsletter will cover new claim staking, BLM rulings and operational changes, current market trends as per published articles, latest announcements of assaying reports, and recent technology breakthroughs. Members will be able to see where the action is taking place, or possibly Who the new neighbor is. There will be an opportunity for WMA Members to introduce their new or existing company to the world through letters written by you, with WMA technical assistance as needed.
Bob Barefoot of DCRS (US) LTD has generously offered to write some papers and let us insert parts of them into our newsletter. He is the Chemist partner ( with Mr Frank Downey ) at DCRS, famous for the "Mongoose" and Ion Bombardment recovery methods involving "electroamalgamated concentrates" which are used to recover free milling gold. New members who subscribe upon receipt of this letter will receive our First Issue of our Newsletter within
which will be parts of his paper titled: "The Great Basin Gold Discovery" by Bob Barefoot, July 6, 1994.
And the last part starts with the question, "The Next question to be
answered is how did a granitic Pre-Cambric rock end up as a hematite sand ?" Answer in part states "Mineral Diagenesis" ..."which is a fancy way or name for the study of how minerals are altered when exposed to the changing environments of nature."
The President of the Association, Charles Marsh, who holds a BA degree
in political science from the University of Akron, is currently active as a commercial real estate agent affiliated with Prudential. He is also a state licensed multi-lines small business insurance broker and may be able to assist WMA members with determining their specific future. Chuca has worked with Metropolitan Life (affiliate, Century 21, Life and RE) and is currently with a Prudential Real Estate affiliate and has been with them for the last 4 years. During the 1990's he participated in a graduate course program at Boston University Theological School. This formal training will be utilized in setting up the organization and will hopefully lead to lobbying efforts on behalf of the Association Members in the future. Charles (Chuca) Marsh has broad experience as an Association underwriter for such high premium industries as metals, plastics (SPI), and various high hazard contractors including Elevator and EASA Electric Motor
re-builders. The latter involved a new technology using eight-foot burn off production ovens for motor windings. Chuca Marshall has noted similarities within the electro-plating processes and other mining technologies which he has observed first hand and thought about the compare and contrast characteristics while he was doing some land staking in the southwest last year.
Mr. Marsh holds the professional designation A.R.M-I.I.A for Associate
in Risk Management and brings his training and experience from the ISIS trade association, a metals industry trade group which sponsored an Insurance Safety Dividend Paying "Safety Group". He has established his own business operations in real estate-mortgages and insurance with national experience in reinsurance, a binding authority with Lloyds of London. The past decades' national account underwriter (Risk and Pricing decision maker) experience mentioned included layers of coverage for physical damage insurance for such national accounts as Phelps-Dodge, Kennecott Copper, and Inland Marine Cargo Insurance for shipments of UF-6, as well as other municipalities, agricultural, and manufactured goods & services firms.
The WMA Vice President is Charles Bankes who received formal training in nuclear power plant operations and electronics. Chuck's focus will be on the technical aspects of the Association. His high degree of computer literacy will aid in the day to day functions of your Association. He has worked as a qualified reactor operator, technical supervisor, manufacturing supervisor and is currently employed as an engineering analyst for a international company on one of their research and development teams. Mr. Bankes will bring to The Association his experience with industrial automation, industrial vendors, maintenance and electronic applications. His responsibilities will initially revolve around the administrative aspects of setting up the Association, putting together the quarterly newsletter, as well as
eventually establishing a web site for the Association and its Members.
Both Chuca Marsh and Chuck Bankes are active members in a stock talk
forum on the internet called the Silicon Investor. Among his written work, Charles Bankes has a technical analysis of one southwest mining company. A copy of the article can be furnished upon request. Our mission now is to begin establishing the link and strategic alliances within the mining industry that other industry sectors such as technology and insurance, for example, already enjoy. Working together toward a common goal for the benefit of all.
During the next six months, we will be mailing out this letter of
introduction to prospective members. Preliminary talks with several have given us reason to believe that this organization will be well received in the mining community. In addition we will begin compiling a list of prospective services and do the preliminary surveys to identify the preferences of our membership during this initial year of operation.. We will establish a membership base and Association structure.
The one time membership fee, annual dues, and service fees will support the Association's advertising and administrative costs during start-up. As the success of the Association and your interest grows, so will the Association's momentum. We all will establish our direction as a group, whether it be toward broader services, lobbying efforts, or whatever the membership selects as its priority focus. We are your association and we are here to be of service to you. Our goal is to empower each member with a competitive edge and the added advantage of greater control of your own business - FOR SUCCESS!
It is our goal to ensure that monies received for membership and dues
are used appropriately and for the benefit of our members. To help ensure the success of the Western Mining Association we are seeking to eliminate as much risk to our prospective charter members as possible. We believe it is vital that we all work together from the start. We have decided that in the unforeseen event that we do not get the expected support for the Association within the next six months, we will refund any fees paid less standard administrative costs.
At the time this letter of introduction was being written, we were
informed that Al Hubbard, The President of Maxam Gold Corporation, will be subscribing to the Association newsletter and his Chairman has given the Association his guidance on several questions. With input from all of our members The Western Mining Association will move forward toward the sunrise on a new industry. Oh, it was Dale Runyon, Chairman of Maxam Gold that said the top phrase!

I got some good shots of the Mongoose that I have been talking about, for some months now from the end of the machine looking into the bowels. Some of the links are dead because I didn't scrape all three lines of character on the URL! But if you want to see the High Points of the Mongoose, I will call Bob and Frank to see if we can include some pictures( I took elsewhere -not theirs-one they sold to others) somehow some way -this newtechiswonderfull! Thank You Brad. Honesty and integrity are at the heart of any worth while endeavor. You may be interested to know that just over the last couple of days that the response has been pretty good. The information is just now being sent out to several mining companies and their officers and we will progress from there.
From an individual's perspective it should help them become more familiar with the different technologies that are being utilized in the industry and also those that are within the developmental and experimental stages. It is our hope to help investors and companies stay up with the latest information available so that all can benefit from the knowledge, technology and networking. |

Wow, I'm really impressed (NOT); has anyone actually ever worked underground or even in a mine?? Your "new western association" sounds like a bunch of "suits" with corporate feel-good surveys rather than "hard hats" with relevent experience.

So, you want to talk about my Eagle Scout experiences, or my Claiming experiences using the "Quit Claim " deed experiance I received in on the job training in real estate. Have you ever written up Acres and Acres O' Claims..Mineral Rights. Or do you think about what can be, but forget about the Can Do! This Trade Association NEEDS all of us to make it work. North / South/ EAST or The WEST. Think on whether it is important to you that I was sitting in an Insurance Real Estate office ( In my Sweater -no tie ) and talking to some one on the phone who gave me a call to ask how to be considered and allow to be stated as ( at my request to be allowed to be Quoted) the first Member of This Association. That was a couple of hours ago. Answer ..Mr Dale Runyon a man who located, staked, and recorded...75,000 acres of BLM lands. Me - I have done less than a small percentage of that; yet, my efforts had numbers that lie in the thousands of arces. I am trying to help. I hope the standard of truth and committment shines through. I do it as well as talk it! This PFC ( former ) dug latrine holes, now I find gold diggin on off time. So they put me in a HQ company as a typist and made me a typish(Letter-Perfect-Why Correct it- Bqankes will correct the Newsltter-I ask you to Name OUR newslrtter, Now!), probably because I refused to take a typing test. I always bucked the trend! Now I am typing here!

Mr. Crebs makes a valid point in spite of himself: if his arrogance is typical of what can be found in this field, you're going to have some tough sledding ahead. Not everyone is as open and forthright as Runion. Seeing who does and doesn't join should be interesting.

Michael, it's nice that people want to create a business association, but as an investor I could care less. I want stock appreciation from the stocks in which I invest. The businesses can party, dance, fornicate, associate, and do what ever they want as long as my individual stocks go up. SI does seem to be the wrong forum for business associations. Association's of stocks that appreciate however is a different matter. <VBG> |
