<What really floors me with this stock is they turn a profit and pay a handsome dividend and the price is all tied to politics. Life stinks.>
If you are so happy with the "handsome" 1% dividend, why do you care what the stock price is ? |

I just thought it was funny to consider a measly 1% dividend to be handsome. Maybe if TLK drops back to its 52 week low below $3 the dividend would then be appealing to new investors. But even 3% is low for what is basically a utility stock. |

You have the dividend figure wrong it is a measly 8 1/2 % consisting of:
A Measly 1% in cash or $105 /1000 shares per quarter and approximately 80 shares per 1000 making up the rest.
I got the cash last month and the shares were deposited in my account on 8/6. |

Yahoo shows the dividend as 1%. What would the point in a 8% stock dividend be ? If the company does not have the cash to pay a cash dividend, then why bother issuing a dividend at all. All a stock dividend does is dilute the earning per share by the same amount as the dividend. |

WDR think Soros may be interested in government's stake in TLK...
A source at Telkom was quoted in a local paper saying that George Soros was interested in buying the government's stake in Telkom via his Quantum Fund. The source also said Soros was looking to buy out Telkom's stake in the five KSO ventures. Soros recently bought an Indonesian investment bank, commercial bank and cigarette manufacturer and has been named among the top bidders for a stake(s) in various telecommunications companies.
The Minister of Communications has denied that the government was planning to sell its 66.38% stake in Telkom to Soros, but did not rule out the possibility of Soros buying Telkom's other 33.62% shares from the market. Telkom management has reportedly welcomed the possibility of Soros group investment in Indonesian telecommunications adding that it would be positive for Telkom. |
