Michael,

Intriguing that we are both following GSH and ECD (my fave!). GSH is going to pay off terrifically for me if it pays anything like its last dividend of 70¢.

Another small cap/high yield stock which has been very good to me is AIP (American Israeli Paper [Israel's largest paper products company]). Just paid $6.19 in dividend on a share price of $35.

1. Belief in Chinese people and economy

2. High yield

3. Precipitous price decline which may be based solely on emotion.

Futurist...............I purchased other stocks,in Asia, after THE SECOND drop.
I am interested in China in general and believe there are good investments to be found......if one looks hard enough.
I am just beginning to research the port of Chiwan thus my interest in GSH which the port system ties into.
My 'early' research tells me that the entire Pearl river area can expect some good growth as Asia starts to recover and may also under-go some upgrading with the massive infrastructure program presently underway in China.
I have contacted both the GSH and the Chiwan port authority in an effort to find out 'whats-what'investmentwize.
I agree with your investment criteria........by-the-way,what is the annual yield.

Last year they paid 71¢, so that's about 13% on a current price basis.

Futurist............do you have any opinions as to where this stock is going?

Have you any info or thoughts as to any developments of GSH.? for example..........any increase in trackage or railway type facilities.

Do you know of any other sources of info. re. GSH other than the co. itself.

All very good questions for which I have no answer. It's sort of crap shoot for me. The price of the stock got low enough that it looked attractive. I am hoping to get a move to $10, but so far it doesn't look like this train has got a lot of steam. The fact that it's traded on the NYSE is a real plus, because of the exchange's accounting standards.
