Infections have been detected in South Africa, Israel, Hong Kong, Belgium, and the UK. So far, the spreading of the heavily mutated variant of the Coronavirus has resulted in a stark warning from one top medical official.
On Saturday, Frank Ulrich Montgomery, chairman of the global physicians' society of the World Medical Association (WMA), told German reporters that he believes Omicron could become as dangerous as the Ebola virus.
Montgomery said, "the fastest and best thing to do is contact restrictions. We must avoid any form of crowd in the coming weeks. We should therefore close the Christmas markets nationwide."

He emphasized the importance of not giving the virus "a chance to mutate by preventing every possible infection."
"The new South African variant is a good example of this. We don't yet know anything about its dangerousness - but it seems to be spreading rapidly. My great concern is that it could lead to a variant that is as infectious as Delta and as dangerous as Ebola. The fewer infections we allow, the better."
Montgomery said it may be necessary to keep "vaccinating the world for years" to come, adding that "only vaccination helps."
"If people are not aware of their social responsibility or if they do not want to take it on, then one has to remind them a little more rigidly. In the case of a general compulsory vaccination - if allowed by the Stiko, from the age of five - all measures could soon be omitted. We would have our old life back," he said.
The bleak predictions come two weeks before BioNTech, Pfizer is expected to have laboratory tests on Omicron to determine if a new novel vaccine would be created. If so, it would take scientists 100 days to develop.
Montgomery's fearmongering comes as South Africa's medical chief Dr. Angelique Coetzee described Omicron as a "storm in a teacup," adding that she had only detected "very mild cases" of the variant so far.
More or less, the virus panic created by health officials and governments is the equivalent of yelling fire in a crowded theater. The only result of mass panic is more public health restrictions that would limit freedoms. Europe has already imposed travel restrictions and partial/full lockdowns as infections increase.
It has been pointed out that "Omicron" is an anagram of "moronic."

Dr. Mehmetooz You can’t even have a Senate cake and eat it-his decision to run for the office has made his TV fans in some major cities potentially … and perhaps permanent for at least the next 11 months. Means not watching his show.
The Dr. Oz Show will soon be discontinued in all Pennsylvania markets, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the Harrisburg capital, according to sources with direct knowledge. But wait … there’s worse news for Ozfan.
Cities adjacent to the Pennsylvania region are also in a hurry for his show, being number one on the New York television market, including at least one Midwestern city. Of course, the issue is fairness to all other candidates. Reason … People in Pennsylvania can pick up Fox in New York.
According to FOX sources … this is all about the FCC’s isochronous principles. It’s unclear how much has been enforced recently, but executives are said to be concerned about providing each candidate with the same airtime.
Remember that Oz’s talk show lasts an hour each day, and there are currently seven other Republican candidates and seven Democrats competing for Sen. Pat toomeySenate seat. Ya gets a potential problem. … I don’t have enough time for the day.
As for other parts of America … Oz’s show airs, but with a guest host while he’s busy on the campaign trail. Nothing has been said yet about who is sitting, but they are said not to be doctors.
He’s said to be recording the show until December, so get the last lick … at least until the November elections are decided.

The opening day of former Empire star Jussie Smollett’s felony trial in Chicago was long and painted two very different portraits of what went down in January 2019.
Citing a “tremendous rush to judgment” over the seeming unraveling of Smollett’s version of the early winter morning racial and politically motivated attack on the Windy City streets, defense attorney Nenye Uche declared in his opening statement that “Jussie Smollett is a real victim.”
That remark in front of a freshly selected and seated jury in Judge James Linn’s Cook County courtroom came on a nearly 11-hour day in what is expected to be a weeklong trial.
Facing half a dozen disorderly conduct counts, Smollett could be heading behind bars for up to three years if found guilty. Yet, even in a case that has seen pretzel-like twists, dismissal of the original charges, a slap on the wrist, outrage, personal checks, the end of the Danny Strong and Lee Daniels created Fox drama, and a special prosecutors over the past 34 months, Smollett will probably not serve any prison time.
Not that the prosecutor was sparing the actor/musician any hard realities even if hard time looks unlikely
“He devised this fake hate crime to take place so that the Empire studio would take this more seriously because this fake hate crime would get media attention” Daniel Webb told the jury of eight men and seven women in his own opening statement Monday of Smollett’s presumed motivation in staging the phony attack after receiving “actual” hate mail in early 2019.
With today going from around 9:30 AM to 7 PM Chicago time, Judge Linn has warned jurors, court officials and flocking media to get used to the long days in what appears to be a pretty obvious attempt to get this wrapped up soon-ish. |
