Domino Connector broadens Infowave's access to enterprise market and expands choice for customers
BOTHELL, WA, Feb. 27 /CNW/ - Infowave Software, Inc. (TSE: IW), a global provider of software that connects enterprise applications to wireless devices, today announced Lotus Notes and Domino support for its Wireless Business Engine. The new Domino Connector will give mobile workers the ability to access their corporate Domino-based email, calendar, to do lists and address book in real-time using a spectrum of wireless devices including laptops, Internet-ready mobile phones, and handheld computers. The Domino Connector will provide the same high level of security, reliability, optimization and network/device support that the Wireless Business Engine currently offers for Microsoft(R) Exchange(R) and Internet/Intranet access. "Infowave's core value is in offering companies a wireless solution that is application, network and device agnostic and that takes the guesswork away from IT manager in terms of predicting future needs," said Ron Jasper, vice president of marketing at Infowave. "Providing support for Lotus Notes and Domino is an important part of delivering on our commitment to support a wide range of mission-critical applications on a wide variety of mobile devices. The Domino Connector gives us an enterprise solution that, when coupled with our existing support for Microsoft Exchange, covers the requirements of an estimated 70% of the existing market of client/server-based messaging solutions. With each new application connector that we deliver for our Wireless Business Engine, Infowave extends its lead in offering what we believe to be the most complete solution available today." "Adding integrated wireless Notes and Domino connectivity is vital to addressing North American corporate needs as well for entering into the European market," said Naqi Jaffery, vice president of mobile wireless research at The Strategis Group, a Washington, DC-based telecommunications market research firm. "Corporate end-users should look for globally supported wireless products when creating their wireless strategy and should consider products that offer these essential components - multi-device, multi-network, and back end corporate application support." Infowave sells its software through both direct and indirect channels and in 2000, signed a comprehensive, worldwide distribution agreement with Compaq Computers to sell, implement and support Infowave's wireless products along with Compaq's line of laptops, servers and iPAQ Pocket PCs. Lotus Notes and Domino is one of the world's most popular messaging and collaboration platforms and includes a suite of personal productivity, electronic mail, groupware and collaborative computing technologies. Gartner Mobile Access Wireless Business Conference brings together wireless industry leaders and Fortune 1000 CTOs to create framework for a corporation's wireless business strategy
SAN DIEGO, CA, March 26 /CNW/ - Infowave Software, Inc. (TSE: IW), a global provider of software that connects enterprise applications to wireless devices, today announced it will showcase its award-winning product suite at Gartner's Mobile Access, Wireless Business Conference being held in San Diego, CA, March 26-28. The conference brings together industry experts and leading wireless companies with over 500 senior IT executives from major US companies to provide direction and a framework on how their companies can capitalize on wireless enterprise technology. "In the next two years, almost two thirds of all companies will implement a wireless enterprise solution," said Bob Egan, vice president and research director for mobile and wireless at Gartner. "But along with the rewards, there are potentially many risks and this conference is designed to provide companies with a clear direction for making a knowledgeable and successful decision on their wireless strategy. Wireless industry experts along with experienced companies in the space will help IT decision makers to better understand the ins and outs of wireless technology and present real-world wireless business solutions that work." As Gartner's research indicates, there exists a significant market opportunity for companies to provide the wireless software infrastructure for corporations as they implement their wireless and mobile strategy and capitalize on this important capability. Infowave is involved in several aspects of the conference, both as a platinum sponsor and as a participant in two industry sessions, including one educational session with an Infowave customer, Mentor Graphics, that focuses on real experiences in implementing wireless solutions. "Mentor Graphics is like most large corporations in that we had serious security, device and wireless network concerns when we started formulating our strategy for mobile workers," says Tom Herzog, communication tools manager at Mentor Graphics Corporation. "When our extensive diligence process was finally over, we knew Infowave was the right choice for us. We've been very successful in implementing Infowave's wireless solution and are happy to share our experiences with other companies as they develop their own wireless strategy." "Infowave is proud to be participating in Gartner's conference to help clarify the confusion about wireless data and to assist companies in identifying strategic approaches to mobilizing their workforces," said Thomas Koll, chief executive officer of Infowave. "Infowave believes that Gartner is clearly advocating a wireless strategy that provides the most flexible choice for customers, which means buying a wireless solution from a vendor that allows customers to make independent decisions about devices, networks and applications according to their specific needs. The Gartner symposium promises to provide an excellent forum for information exchange, analysis and comparing and contrasting competing solutions. We look forward to interacting with analysts, partners and customers at this important event."
