Nice move cowboyfan. Never thought of going w/Oct 60's myself. Looks like you've done well for yourself. Can't complain though, the 65's served me well. Although it seems like I've been holding my breath since Thursday, I was able to sell @ 11/2. I'll be going out a little farther next time - can't hang w/ the good 'ole 11th hour make or break decision. Best of luck !!

With AFS on a downward trend last wk. , I was considering the purchase of a Nov. 60 call if shares reached below 59. I had no time to follow mkt and AFS ended up dipping to a low Fri. below 59. Amajor lost opportunity, since premium is now nearly double from fFri. As for your June 70, I don't see where you can go wrong - premium is reasonable, plenty of time and the company continues it's upward momentum. Short question, any reason why options are not being traded for AFS in Jan. Feb. and Apr.? Thanks, and yes - good luck!

No reason other that noone chose to write calls for those specific months. The November 60 Calls would have been a terrific buy considering todays action, you're right!! I bought the June 70's and I like the action I'm seeing today plus I have a long time with these. AFS has very strong support at 60 and that is why I bought at 60 1/4 last week. Good luck to you and let me know when and what you get into.... |

When to get in?.
All, need some help. I want to buy some AFS, but at 65 I can hardly afford to buy 100 shares?. I am a buy and hold long term investor. Does it make sense to buy 50 shares of AFS and hold it?. Secondly, does anyone know when AFS will spin off the remaining shares to its shareholders of Ford?. Will that drive the price down AFS if shareholders discrimately sell AFS (considering it is a distribution?). There is a company called NCT that is accquiring ATT/Capital. NCT is a canadian company. Is this company AFS's competior?. Regards, Immi |

Anytime is a good time to invest in a company that you like. Whether you buy one share or 50, you should stand to do well over the long term investing in any strong company. How the market reacts to Fords announced plan to spin off its 80.7% interest in AFS once it is finalized? I don't know. My opinion is that AFS will continue its 80-year tradition of providing superior customer service. As a result, we should see a continued increase in shareholder equity over the long term. I think support level for AFS is @ 70 in spite of recent pull back. MER is good barometer for the financial sector and rebounded nicely today. I believe AFS will do the same, and if high yr-end EPS are announced it should really fly. In the wake of the Asian crisis, investors are going to be very selective in choosing their investments. Dollars are going to follow the co.'s that have shown consistent growth and expense control. With that said, I'll end up going out on limb w/Feb. 75's - since premiums are so low. CBOE(http://www.cboe.com/) shows high volume today for Feb. 75's, which might indicate to some that AFS is poised for a push forward w/in the next few weeks. Again , good luck cowboyfan and thanks for keeping AFS thread active. I don't drop in as much as I would like - sure glad holiday season is over!
