Over the weekend, we updated the SI message editor code to prevent base64 image insertion into our message database. With this update in place, over the course of last night we converted nearly 90,000 base64 encoded images from our message database to file-based images, which do not burden our database server. This will make SI a faster and as such more enjoyable browsing experience for all. There is still a little cleanup work left to do, but the bulk of this surgery on our system in now complete. This downtime could potentially last a few hours.
