Does anyone here have a Microcassette Recorder they don't need? You Know the old fashion tiny ones that plays mini tapes. I have two that don't work. I have old tapes that could have my fathers voice on them. I don't trust eBay, because that's were one of these that don't work was bought. They play tapes for a few seconds, but the electronics are messed up in the recorder and starts making a horrible sound.

If you hit play with no tape, it makes a loud distorted sound like when the tape was in. I thought it was bad tapes, but its the recorder.

I don't trust eBay.

There is one on Kijiji, but they want 80 bucks and it looks like the same model I have that doesn't work. I don't want to spend a pile of money for something thats only going to be used a few hours.

Thats US dollars, convert that to Canadian. The shipping to Canada, & duty, taxes. I can't see spending that money on something that will be used a few hours and then never again.

Do you have a local library that might have one to use, or know any lawyers that might have one around.

See if you can find a store that can convert old analog A/V sources, like your tapes, to a digital format. A few years ago I found a shop that copied my mother's old (very old) 8mm home movie films to DVDs. Didn't cost a whole lot..

Also, if you do buy a player, you can always resell it after you're done with it..

I had Hi8 tapes digitized for 20 bucks for first and 10 each afterwards, just 3 of them. They came to my house pick up and delivery.
