The Turtle Beach press release might have been it--it held nicely today. Would have been nicer if their press release had mentioned Aureal by name instead of just A3D.

It's possible that people are also anticipating the April conclusion of all these stupid outstanding Class B and C shares. People have to start covering their shorts after they convert (but, of course, the conversion will dilute earnings. . .).

Aureal 13D/A filing.

Essentially, some holding company now owns LESS than 5%, so they are filing to say they no longer need to file. Interestingly, though, they hold a good deal of the Class C convertible and discussion the conversion (a little).

Also, sounds like they sold quite a bit of it to "private placement," which I guess (?) means they sold it directly to someone else without going through the market (so THAT'S why the volume is so low!).

Team Fortress II to Support Aureal A3D 2.0

New Title From Valve/Sierra Studios Will Feature Aureal's A3D 2.0 Positional Audio Technology With Aureal Wavetracing

Holy Cow -- we're @ 1.06.

As an Aureal-based card holder AND a Half-Life (Value/Sierra) owner, I can say that this is good news for game players and AURL stockholders. As the press release states, Half-Life was Game of the Year last year in many publications, and it IS an impressive game. The A3D adds a lot.

Can you compare the features between the Aureal Votex8830 and ESS's Canyon3D audio chip?

ESS Technology Introduces the World's First True
Positional 3D PC Audio Accelerator

Canyon3D(TM) Audio Accelerator - A PC Gamer's Dream

FREMONT, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- ESS Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: ESST - news) introduces its Canyon3D
accelerator, the world's first true 3D positional audio solution for multispeaker configurations. ESS's Canyon3D audio
accelerator uses Sensaura's MultiDrive(TM) technology to vertically position 3D sound effects from each of the four speakers in
a multispeaker PC gaming environment.

The Canyon3D technology, which supports the Microsoft DirectSound3D (DS3D) API, uses HRTF algorithms for each of the
four individual speakers to provide the vertical sound cues needed for total PC game immersion. Canyon3D's vertical sound
positioning for each speaker outperforms other four-speaker processors which only use simple 2D panning techniques to
attempt to simulate a true 3D environment. Additionally, Canyon3D is the only accelerator to support multiple speaker
configurations, including two-speaker, four-speaker, and the popular 4.1 and 5.1 home entertainment configurations.....................

I don't know enough to compare the features, but I can say one thing: it doesn't seem to scare anyone. AURL has doubled since that announcement from ESS.

Hmmm. Another 13D/A filing today. Looks like this is the group which purchased all the stock from the first group (see the previous filing). This would be the "private placement" they mentioned. Now, some trust/holding/whatever owns a whopping %43.5 of the company! I don't quite know how to interpret this report. Can anyone help?

Dear Steve, I believe the 13D filling also mentioned something quite interesting. They apparently converted the majority of the death spiral preferreds on March 5th 99, guess when Aureal started climbing? The next question to ask is who started the buying. One answer is the group mentioned in the filling. After they converted, they started to buy the commons, which makes intuitive sense. The saga continues. How should you interpret it? Well, the way I see it they had no incentive to buy the commons until they conv. the preferreds, at that point their interests where in line with the common where as before they wanted the common to die so they could dilute to the max with the preferreds. So, it is a good thing in my opinion. Whenever the financial situation of a company clears up, the market favors it, simplicity rules in this game.
