There's a nice little spurt upward in price going on right now!

MetaCreations Announces Latest Additions to Management Team

CARPINTERIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 3, 1997-- MetaCreations Corp. (NASDAQ:MCRE) Thursday announced the following appointments: Frank
Casanova II as vice president of product management and design; DeAnna Wassom, vice president of marketing; Chuck Massanari, vice president of sales; and
Thomas Cullen, vice president of OEM sales.

Casanova was most recently the director of the Advanced Systems Group in the Advanced Technology Group at Apple Computer, where he worked for nine
years. Prior to Apple, Casanova was product line manager at Apollo Computer, manufacturer of engineering workstations. As vice president of product
management and design, Casanova reports to John Wilczak, founder and chief executive officer of MetaCreations.

In addition to product management, he will manage the User Interface Design Group and the Strategic Affairs Group. ``Frank knows how to extract brilliance from
researchers. He will ensure the constant flow of absolute magic in our product line, and his experience at Apple Computer will be invaluable to our growing
company,'' said Wilczak.

The sales and marketing team expands under the leadership of Senior Vice President of sales and marketing Fred Brown.

DeAnna Wassom brings strategic and tactical marketing experience to the vice president of marketing position, most recently as the director of corporate
communications and marketing at SystemSoft, where she defined and implemented marketing and sales programs for targeted OEM and ISV/IHV accounts, and as
the director of marketing at Radish Communications prior to its acquisition by SystemSoft.

``Wassom's talent and expertise will add a vitality and fresh perspective to the sales/marketing team,'' said Brown. ``Her skills in developing cooperative marketing
programs and business partnerships will be invaluable.''

Tom Cullen joins MetaCreations as vice president of OEM sales. Cullen was previously vice president of sales for Radish Communications (now SystemSoft),
where his responsibilities included licensing strategies and OEM relations.

During his five years there, Cullen developed a successful track record and contacts with companies such as Intel, Packard Bell, HP, Sony and NEC, and brings
valuable experience to the sales team to ensure continued, rapid growth in the OEM marketplace. ``Cullen's proven track record in OEM management is invaluable
to this newly created position at MetaCreations,'' confirmed Brown.

Chuck Massanari was recently promoted to vice president of sales, following his remarkable achievement of growing individual storefront sales from 200 to more
than 7,000 since joining the company as managing director of sales in January 1996.

Prior to joining MetaCreations, Massanari was director of sales, Western region for AT&T's Retail Stores Division, general manager of AmeriData's San Diego
location, and he was with Apple Computer Inc. in various field sales and management positions. ``Chuck has an extensive background in all channel segments and a
real passion for retail consumer sales which makes him an important asset to our future growth plans,'' said Brown.
