DAVID, WELCOME TO THE SI AMD THREADS,
You might recognize me. I am a long time user of AMD products, a reseller of AMD products, and I am an investor in the company. We have spoken by phone and we have exchanged E-Mail.
There is much useful information on these threads. I hope that you have an opportunity to view some of it. In a subsequent posting I will list a few of the previous postings that may prove to be useful to you.
Best Regards,
DRBES

David: Get real. When can you supply me with a PC with the K6. Your CEO on 01/13 said that K6 was within weeks of being shipped. On 02/13, we will have waited for a month and still waiting......... |

Kamal: You misunderstood what our CEO, Jerry Sanders, said on 1/13 during the AMD quarterly analyst conference call. He did not say we would be "shipping" within weeks. He said we planned to commence production within several weeks. Further, we said our plan is to produce initial revenue from the product early in Q2 (April-May). I can add that we plan to ship hundreds of thousands of AMD-K6 processors during the second quarter. And, while this was not a question from you, I should add that I did not say the AMD-K6 processors could be shipped to SI in March. Another SI member made that comment. Thanks for your interest. Dear Greg Nus: We're excited about the prospect of working with SI. By way of personal background, I've been with AMD for 12 years, so this wasn't my "first assignment." Enjoyed what I assume was intended as good fun and am looking forward to making this relationship work. Dave Frink at AMD |

DRBES: Not sure exactly who you are, but glad to hear from you. Give me a call so we can get re-acquainted. You will not be disappointed in the upcoming AMD-K6 processor. Dave Frink |

Hi David.
If you have any info concerning the K6 chip, please don't hesitate to post it to the "AMD K6 versus Cyrix M2" thread, because I need to know the real differences between both CPUs before upgrading my computer or buy any stocks from either AMD or Cyrix or both of them. Now, I am glad to know that you've joined SI, because I know from now on, I can get true info about the K6 and AMD, not just rumors from other people.
Thanks, Maxfield Stanton |

Dave,
Being a reseller of computer and electronic components in Belgium, I wonder why it is so difficult or almost impossible to have those K5-PR166 CPU's?
As I understand it, it is not only in my country, but also in the U.S.
Are large OEM account eating all the production, or are there some yield problems in the production of this device? We are almost two months after announcement and Q1 is already gone for 2/3 and I haven't seen any PR166 yet.
Can you give any insight on this?
Thanks in advance,
Bert |

Just how stupid can you get? SI is going to go through the same channels as any other customer and the same bidding process so don't expect Intel to be posting their response here, they aren't as stupid as that. |
