Bob -

They're not dummies. They know that, compared to a 56K modem, 256 MB/s is FAST! They can offer that, and they don't have to provision the back-end to deal with more than that (the aggregation of the customers at the CO). As competition warrants, they can up the speed, or offer higher speed at a given price point, or whatever.

I laugh whenever I look at my DSL modem; it makes me think of AMTX, and even WSTL a little bit.

Hope you've been well.

:-)
Steve

Season's Greetings to all my Amati friends!

Wishing everyone a 100MB/s 2005!

I see that "AMTX" has apparently been re-issued...

Not this year Dude ... It's Low Carb DSL. Not DSL Lite.

It's almost like ADSL but keep all of us from getting the .....

WIDTH.

Merry Christmas Jim, Pat, Srvhap, Walt, Rip .. And all the rest.

I must say ... AMATI was one of The Most Agonizing Stock positions I've ever played.

Let's write a Song while we wait! And Wait. And Wait! [wish I could make an obsolete modem sound here] LMAO

Amati is missed but the Friends I made here are missed as well if not more.

Say Hi .. if you have the Opp.

Merry Christmas One and All,

Ray

Ray ! and the Amati Gang

I agree "Agonizing Stock positions" holding Amati stock was similar to a Tour Bus trip to _______ (fill in with your favorite boaring trip) but the group people on the bus, sure made the trip worth while!

The best time was from my initial purchase in Feb, 96 until SuperComm in May, $5 - $33 , where I sold 3/4 of my positions in WSTL, PAIR and Amati after talking with a unnamed Professor at Stanford, after he received a Fellow award from the IEEE. As I helped him carry stuff from Hall A to Hall C on his way to give a presentation on the Internet and Multimedia Expectations (future Broadband) He left a few thoughts burned in to memory, Nothing on Amati itself, but .... that when a stock appreciates, one should at least sell enough to get ones initial investment back, and a short discussion on emerging Tech and initial hype etc..

The second best time, was Supercomm 97 the following year, when a small group of the Amati Gang met in Las Vegas and had a lot of fun. Yes there we were making history over a Web Cam from the SuperComm convention floor waving to the Amati Investors, and making jokes which they could not hear... Then there was this Guy in Sexy shorts standing among us...

It's getting close to the 10 Year anniversary of the Thread !

Perhaps a we can get the gang back here for a short one month discussion during December through New Years 2006 ?

Wishing All the Best to Ray and Giovani Mateo,

JW@KSC

I have to smile every time a message appears from the "Amati" group. Makes me wonder how many people still have Amati on their subjectmarks?

Well here are some familiar names. The new owners of this site forced me to abandon my original posting name – Eric Goethals.

What ever happened to Pat Mudge? Did she take on the posting name Moneypenny ?
