(Nasdaq:EGHT), the leading provider of global Enterprise Communications as a Service (ECaaS), today announced that the company is expanding its international footprint with new investments in Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America (LATAM) to support growing demand from global and distributed mid-market and enterprise customers.

July 20th..

This will include the addition of three new data centers in Singapore, The Netherlands and Brazil; full localization capabilities (end user application and portal localization) for an additional six languages - French (two dialects), German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese; and new support centers in the Philippines and Romania delivering 24 x 7 follow-the-sun support.

With this expansion, 8x8 will have a total of 12 data centers in eight regions of the world and will be one of the first global cloud communications providers with a presence in LATAM.

From a localization perspective, 8x8 will support a total of 13 languages in addition to English, for its desktop interactive voice response (IVR) services by the end of this calendar year, including Japanese. The company is also supplementing its global customer success network in the United States and United Kingdom with its new support centers in the Philippines and Romania, bringing the total number of centers to seven. In addition 8x8 continues to make key investments in technology, quality of service, security, and reliability to support customers.

Global Reach Network(R)

The three new data centers announced today - Singapore, Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro (targeted availability fall 2016) - build on 8x8's existing global reach in the US, UK, Hong Kong, Australia, and Canada. With customers operating in 114 countries, 8x8 currently has 27 international carriers, emergency calling services in 21 countries, local phone numbers in 83 countries, international toll free numbers in 122 countries and two global and 15 regional end-point distributors. 8x8 delivers an annual core call flow processing uptime of 99.997%. The company is the first cloud communications provider to offer an end-to-end SLA for both uptime and quality of voice over the public internet, guaranteeing a voice-quality mean opinion score (MOS) of 3.5 or above.

8x8 has also invested heavily in security and compliance globally. In the US this includes FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act); and in the UK, ATO (Authority to Operate), which is amongst the country's highest levels of security and compliance certifications. In addition to full localization capabilities for the six new languages announced today - French (European and Canadian dialect currently available); German, Dutch and Spanish (targeted for fall 2016); and Italian and Portuguese (targeted for winter 2016) - 8x8 currently supports English (US, UK and AUS versions). The company also offers localized desktop IVR services in 7 languages in addition to English today, with another 6 planned for this calendar year.

These three innovations relate to networked contact centers, data storage and conferencing, enabling businesses to take full advantage of the power of the cloud for their communications needs.

The new patents issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) are:

-- United States Patent number 9,307,088 entitled "Networked Contact Center" was awarded on April 5, 2016 and discusses among other things, a networked contact center with several platforms to host multiple tenants.

-- United States Patent number 9,306,985 entitled "User Configurable Data Storage" was awarded on April 5, 2016 and covers how a Voice over IP (VoIP) server can route calls and store data from a plurality of telecommunications devices.

-- United States Patent number 9,338,221 entitled "Systems and Methods for Distributed Conferencing" was awarded on May 10, 2016 and provides conference meeting content to remote participants in a distributed manner.

The patent associated with "Networked Contact Center" is part of a family of four other patents with issue dates between 2008 and 2014 related to 8x8's Virtual Contact Center architecture. This allows several platforms of networked contact centers to host multiple contact center tenants, and ensures this data is handled securely within the architecture.

The "User Configurable Data Storage" patent enables various forms of data (voicemails, call recordings, and other captured data) generated by the user of an IP communications service to be propagated from a local server where the data is collected, to a remote server. It also updates a user's index to that data so it will now refer to the remote server.

The third patent (#9,338,221) describes one of the ways that local meeting content and data is shared with remote participants in a distributed conference session.

First Quarter Fiscal 2017 Financial Highlights:

-- Total revenue of $60.0 million, a 25% year-over-year increase; service revenue of $55.3 million, a 25% year-over-year increase.

-- Service revenue from mid-market and enterprise customers grew 44% year-over-year and represents 52% of the Company's total service revenue.

-- New monthly recurring revenue (MRR) sold to mid-market and enterprise customers and by channel sales teams increased 62% year-over-year and accounted for 58% of total MRR booked in the quarter.

-- GAAP net loss was ($0.5 million), or ($0.01) per diluted share.

-- Non-GAAP net income was $5.4 million, or $0.06 per diluted share.

-- GAAP gross margin was 74%, compared with 73% in the same period last year; non-GAAP gross margin was 75%, compared with 74% in the same period last year.

-- GAAP service margin was 81%, compared with 81% in the same period last year; non-GAAP service margin was 83%, compared with 82% in the same period last year.

"8x8's fiscal 2017 is off to a great start with a 25% year-over-year increase in total revenue to a record $60 million, driven largely by the continued adoption of our global cloud communications and collaboration services by midmarket and enterprise customers," said 8x8 CEO Vik Verma. "The move to the cloud for enterprise communications is no longer a matter of if but when, and I'm very pleased with the progress we've made establishing 8x8 as the premiere provider of the industry's most secure, reliable and integrated pure-cloud solutions available."

Additional First Quarter and Year-to-Date Highlights:

-- Average monthly service revenue per business customer was $399, compared with $353 in the same year ago period.

-- Gross monthly revenue churn on an organic basis was 0.5%, compared with 1.0% in the same period last year.

-- Cash generated from operating activities was $6.5 million, compared with $4.7 million in the same period last year.

-- Cash, cash equivalents and investments were $167 million at June 30, 2016, compared with $157 million on June 30, 2015.

-- Jeff Romano appointed Senior Vice President of Global Services and Support to lead global deployment, professional services, program management and customer support.

-- Expansion of international footprint announced with three new datacenters, localization for six additional languages and two new customer support centers.

-- Three new communications patents granted for a total of 121 awarded patents.

8x8 reaffirmed its guidance for fiscal 2017 of annual revenue of $249.0 million to $253.0 million and full year non-GAAP net income in the range of $16.0 million to $20.0 million, representing non-GAAP net income as a percent of revenue of 6.5% to 8.0%.

8x8 also announced that on July 18, 2016, it awarded 29 new employees restricted stock units (RSUs) representing an aggregate of 145,940 shares of the Company's common stock, and an option to purchase 36,160 shares of common stock at an exercise price of $15.18 under the 8x8 "2013 New Employee Inducement Incentive Plan." These equity awards were approved by the 8x8 Board of Directors Compensation Committee and were granted as an inducement to the new employees entering into employment with 8x8, in accordance with Nasdaq Market Place Rule 5635(c)(4). Each of the awards is subject to vesting pursuant to the terms of the award agreements, which include that the recipient be employed through each vesting date.

The second patent (#9,426,116) provides a system and methodology for a Domain Name System (DNS) that helps maintain consistency of DNS records between multiple master servers in the event of a connection failure. The technology will also help the master DNS server take the appropriate actions to update and/or recover DNS data when connections are restored.

The technology in patent number 9,432,519 helps companies better manage calls that were routed through the IPBX server but unreturned by the end user. By having a circuit configured to evaluate call summary metrics from missed calls and correlate that data with secondary data sources, the IPBX server can help identify which missed and unreturned calls are of higher priority.

Finally, U.S. patent #9,438,736 details how to limit interaction with a network contact center that is host to multiple tenants by evaluating the communication through a contact rate value and determine the allowable quantity of contact during a specific time interval.
