I have Office 97---like it a lot, but only after I added more memory to my computer ;) Oh well, at least memory prices are low!

BTW, I'm reluctant to use Outlook for my email, because it deletes your mail from your SMTP/POP3 server once it downloads it. For someone like me who isn't always at their own computer, this really sucks. They should fix that problem with the v1.1 release in a few months....

Sal,

MSFT just gave me Office 97 Pro ($600) for free ..
I went to a Dog and Pony show by MSFT and they gave away
about 6 figures worth of software ...

Did you get your IntelliRAT yet???

Wow!?!? Are you sure it isn't a test copy that expires soon?

I got my IntelliMouse--but the damn thing isn't working with my laptop. I spent hours on the phone with Microsoft themselves, and that damn thing couldn't be fixed $%@#$!!!

Hmm, either the mouse goes, or my laptop (2 weeks old) goes....Guess which!

P.S. Check your email.

Well, I might have to start going to those conferences....

Do they charge admission? Or are you in one of their developer programs?

BTW, I don't care if I paid for your CD-ROM, because MSFT always pays big dividends to their shareholders (oops, they don't pay "dividends," their stock just goes up, and up, and up,....)

The conference are for resellers only ....
Well, let me rephrase that ... anyone can go, but only the resellers
can get the "real" copy (as oppose to the one 90 day trial version)
A friend is a reseller ( I do consulting for him) we both received a "free"
copy of Office Pro 97 ....

No admission charge ...

Find a friend from COMP USA or Best Buy ... They will tell you about it ....

They also raffle out many other software ... and hardware (IntelliRAT,
Joysticks, and MS keyboard) I think everyone received a free t-shirt ...

If this is not bad enough, MSFT have Babes doing the presentation to
tease all the gumps at the show ... Believe me, you will feel like you are
in Revenge of the Nerds part VI ...

Boy, I shouldn't butt in here (Hi Sal) but I just stumbled in on this and I got to wonder:

"They said Microsoft's current market capitalization adjusted for inflation is what IBM's was in 1951. From that point, over the next 9 years IBM went up 16 times in value."

Microsoft's current market cap is $130 billion or so, #4 overall and pretty close to the current #1, GE at $170 billion. Do you guys really think Microsoft will be worth $2 trillion in 9 years? The company has had a great run, but it's a large cap stock now. All the new worlds Mr. Bill has in his sights have established players who might be a little harder to roll over that lotus and wordperfect.

Cheers, Dan.
